My Hello
My Hello
Alright so here's the deal
In January I purchased my first car that I needed to take a bank loan out for. It just so happens that I've wanted the Mini Cooper S since I first set eyes on one. I've owned a 95' Saturn SL2, 91'' Subaru Legacy Wagon, 95' Mazda 626 DX (first 5spd), 91' Volkswagen Jetta Carat (5spd), and an 85' BMW 5.2.8e.
As you can see from the list above, nothing except the BMW has had the technology that the Mini Cooper has. It's my first OBDII car and really the first car that has had any potential, although the Saturn was pretty fast for what it was, it doesn't compare to a supercharged vehicle at the same weight. All the car work as far as modification goes has been on the Saturn (when it was on the dyno, it said I was running 148 whp and 158 tq from a stock 124 bhp and 122 tq). So the car was well modified but mostly with cheap parts because I was 17 and just threw whatever looked the coolest, made it sit the lowest, or sound the loudest. The only other vehicle I have worked on in the same respect was the Jetta, but it was a total pile of crap that I bought for $800 because I blew the head gasket on the Mazda, which was purchased for $800 because the $200 Subaru (when you shut the doors, rust would fall out of the wheel wells) just wasn't going to make the drive from NY to Va Beach. After the Jetta had sat in my garage for 8 months because I had the Geek Squad Beetle to drive, I decided to sell it for $400 with all the parts I had purchased (OEM & Aftermarket). A good friend of mine gave me his BMW because his wife wanted it out of the garage. So that's my back story on car history and an idea of my car knowledge.
I've installed car stereos and I can do most bolt-ons myself. I'm very good at describing and troubleshooting problems and I'm willing to help anyone within reason.
I'm really excited about being a Mini Owner and being part of something awesome again. They have it with Volkswagens and Subarus. OH and BMW (I can't tell you how many random strangers had comments about the BMW) So like I said, it's nice to have that community feeling.
So far in the 2.5 months that I've owned my car I've put 4000 miles on it and installed all the things in my signature. Plus the iSimple iPod adapter and the light in sight thing, cuz its awesome.
I have noticed that along the way of vehicle development they have tried to make things idiot proof. The only problem with that is every time you make something idiot proof, they make a better idiot.
The good thing is, I'm not an idiot. My main squeeze is computers and technology. Cars are my hobby. If I can find them, I will post videos and pictures of my previous vehicles in my signature at some point. I believe I have the Saturn on the Dyno, the Subaru doing donuts out in a field, and the rest would probably be in pictures, except the Mazda, that car sucked and didn't deserve pictures or videos.
So with all that said. Hello, I'm Kyle. I'm new to Mini, but not new to Euro. If it needs to be driven I can drive it. If it needs to be fixed I can fix it or find the answer. Hopefully, I'll never get called out for not having the sense to use the search function before posting. I hate it just as much as the rest of you.
Oh, I guess I could include one more hobby of mine before I sign off. I collect beer bottles from around the world. I've been to a few countries in Europe and I *COUGH*COUGH* smuggled *COUGH*COUGH* some beer back over with me. My collection is roughly 430 bottles, all different. Eventually I will put links to pictures of that as well.
If you're interested, you can find me on facebook.com/kyle.miller the only requirement is that you join my mafia wars, hahahaha.
I look forward to this forum.
Have a great day
