Question about delivery..please look

might not be able to take delivery on ordered mini. I might be losing my job. Well the company I work for might be going under. My supervisor is actually looking at buying a Franchise. So i am kinda worried. That he has a plan in the works. I really want the car but I don't think i can afford to get it with no income. Now I have only put $500 diposit down. I really want the car but food and rent comes first.

My questions is would I be able to not take delivery on the car? Or am i in contract to take delivery?

You are not obligated to take the car. At worst you may have to forfeit your deposit however I ordered two MINI's that I ended up not taking delivery of but still had my deposit returned to me.

Man, sorry to hear it. If you think it will be a financial burden, seriously consider not taking delivery. I've had mine since November 2008, and not a month goes by that I don't think that I shouldn't have taken delivery, given the state of my personal economic affairs. Keep in mind that you can always come back and rebuild a car when times are more secure. Good luck with your decision.

Well I would agree that you don't have to take delivery and you might forfeit the $500 deposit, but that will be better than making monthly payments with out cash coming in. And if you take the car and loan then the possibility of defaulting on your note and the hit your credit rating would take are not good. No car right now unless you get a new job or can get a gaurantee on keeping your present one.

If you do lose your job (or will soon after you are supposed to take delivery), get a letter or other form of documentation to that effect and present it to the dealer. I would be shocked and appalled if they didn't refund your deposit.

You are in no obligation to taking delivery. Think of when the car shows up, and you cannot get financing? (hypothetical) They cannot force you to come up with $25k to pay for the vehicle right? I know in California it is illegal for a dealership to keep your deposit if you decide to not purchase the vehicle.
