Well if you are asking the question I assume you really know you want a MINI. So the only thing I can tell you is you will never regret ditching the vette for the excitement of a MINI. I dropped my Camaro for a MINI, I'm happy, you will be too.
Wow, it seems there are quite a few people "downgrading". I'm ditching my e92 335 for an '06 MCS. I didn't do any engine mods to the 335 and I can say that after I did the test drive I was pretty impress an satisfied with the MCS' performance. I guess it all depends on your personal reasons/situations for making the change, since like my situation, you are comparing two entire different cars. The first thing you should do is drive an '09/'10 MCS and see if you like it, then take it from there.
Don’t know if I would call it downgrading or not but here are my likes and dislikes and you tell me the same about the MCS. Today my daily driver is a 2007 full size GMC pickup but the MC would be replacing the not so daily driver Vette.

I was just kidding about the downgrading
Based on your dislikes, you will definitely save money on tires. The nice thing about the MCS is that even though it fits the daily driver category it handles so well that you can take it to a track. However, since you are looking for more cargo space, I don't think you will gain that much space with an MCS; maybe with the Clubman you'll have a bit more space. Do you have big dogs and/or intend to transport big items on a weekly basis? If so, then an MCS might not be a good choice for you. If you are staying with your truck maybe you could use that for all your transportation needs

Don't know about saving on tires, my wife got a nail in our 2010 Clubman S today and a replacement Dunlop Sport 01 Dsst tires is $454. We have the sport package and 17' wheels. Foretunately they can patch nail holes in run flats. I drive a E92 335 convertible and much prefer driving my wifes Clubman S. You won't regret the move if you make it and my 335 is modified with Turbo Tuner SSTT.
I just sold my 335 and I honestly can't say I'll can give the MCS any edge other than fuel economy and maybe practicality. However, since my priorities changed I can say that I'm very please with picking the MCS over some other cars in the same price range: it is mod friendly (i.e., lots of parts available) and its fun to drive. :D
