New Car - What should you check?

Howdy All,

I've got a 2010 MCS convertible on its way (just reached VDC today), and I was wondering what I should make sure I check for before driving it off the lot (besides the obvious, of course ).

Any suggestions?

I've never owned a MINI before, and I don't want to be so excited on the big day that I miss something important, but less obvious.

I realize there's a previous thread on this, but it seemed to be for older models.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated,
Thanks!

I'm curious as well.

I did find this thread which seemed pretty useful, but like you said, it was on the older end of things.

However, I'm sure many of the points are still valid things to look for. I'm sure someone else can add/update/elaborate on everything as well.

Check carefully for any body damage as shipping misshaps occur. Operate the top several times to make sure all works without binding. Check out all options to be sure they work.

Put car in gear and grin all the way home. Hit the twisties and giggle alot. Picked up my new MCS Convertible in June and have 5,000 fun filled miles on it. Wonderful convertible!!!

The check list referenced above is a great one. Whether or not you have the patience to follow it in its entirety is another thing altogether. I am sure you will check out the physical appearance and note any major discrepancies. Do run the top several times and make sure you understand exactly how to operate the lights and the windshield wipers in case it gets dark or rains before you get home. Don't fool with the manual mode on the transmission until you have time to really learn how to use it, as going the wrong direction with the gear lever or paddles can lead to embarassment or driving troubles.
