New Mini Owner

Hey NAM, just introducing myself.

I bought a used black '02 MC a few weeks ago and love it (except for the problem with the locks not working by switch or remote, and the driver side window has spasms, and sometimes doesn't work at all. I've seen the threads though, and seen that this is not a rare problem).

I've wanted a Mini forever, and finally got one. My first car!

Also I just had 35% tints installed all around (no windshield) and I swear I almost cried when I saw how light the 35% tint was. At least, I want to go 20% on the back windows. But I'll have to wait for now.
I'm going to get the taillights frosted over with a black tint.

Suggestions? regarding anything?

Congratulations! For starters, take and post some pics. Then get motoring!

And welcome to the group- I'm still waiting for my baby to arrive (after a crazy last week it finally got onboard a ship) but should be here before Thanksgiving, so I'm basically jealous you've got a physical specimen to work with! This is the place to find out anything and everything you've ever wanted to know about your MINI.

Enjoy-

Jay

Thanks for the welcoming! I really appreciate it.

I'll be taking pics within a couple of days. It has been raining nonstop for the past week. The forecast calls for sunshine on Monday.

I'll keep the NAMily updated!

The "SlyCooper" video game is where I got the name from. I played it a long time ago, and the name just stuck. I must say, it was a pretty good game.

I'll have pics soon.

First Pics

Ok, here are the pics. I haven't done too much customizing besides the 35% tints, after all I just got it. My plans are to black out the grill and possibly the headlight rings. and tint the tail lights.

As you can see, I only have one bonnet stripe, but I plan to add a wider white stripe (still off centered) and have a red pinstripe on the edge of the white stripe.

QUESTION: My plastic bumper pieces are starting to fade and are fading to a white-ish color. I was thinking of using plasti-dip on the bumper pieces. Is it ok to do that? Has anyone plasti-dipped the bumper pieces before???

35% tints (no flash). BEWARE: the tints look darker than they really are. These are 3M metallic 35% tints.

35% tints (with flash).

I just made the same mistake yesterday. I could legally get 20% on the back glass and 35% on the rest. I opted to get 35% all the way around but I wish I had just gotten 20% all the way around. It does look better than it did before but if I want to pick my nose in my car, that's MY business and I don't need people the next car judging me for it.

On the plus side, I don't have to worry about getting pulled over, ticketed, and sent to court over having my windows too dark. I've had friends that have been forced to get their tint removed and cars inspected for having their windows tinted too dark.

Yeah, that was my reason for going with the 35% as well. The next time I will get 20%.

And thanks to everyone else!

Your Wheel Arches can be brought back to Life with a little help from BW (BlackWow), there are a few NAM Vendors that you should be able to get it from.

BTW...I really like just the 1 Stripe!!

Good Luck!!

Thanks so much for the Black Wow suggestion. It looks like it will do the job well. I'll post before and after pics of the wheel arches once I use Black Wow.

Yeah, I like the one stripe too!
