New From Rhode Island

Just wanted to say Hello...I love my 2006 Mini, it is such fun car to drive. I have a couple of dumb issues

1. The phone icon on the steering wheel ? what is that and how does it work?

2. I want to hook up my iPod ? what is the best way to do that?

See you all on the Road

Tony

Welcome !!!

1. The phone button is for BlueTooth telephone connection. You do not necessarily have that installed. The MFSW (Multifunction Steering Wheel) is fitted on cars ordered with cruise control. The other functions on the steering wheel are not necessarily installed.

2. I think you will have to install an ipod kit. They are available from a MINI dealer or after market.

Have fun driving you new MINI.

If you have NAV there is a good chance you got Bluetooth as well. If you don't have an OWNERS MANUAL I suggest you go to the MINIUSA.com website and find the OWNERS MANUAL for your car. There you will find fairly comprehensible instructions on how to activate your Bluetooth.

By the way your car is a different model from mine. After you have driven your car for a while you will see the difference between the Series 1 R53 coupe and the Series 2 R56.

Happy motoring!

Welcome from RI!
Pay a visit to Geoff over at Inskip MINI service and have him run your VIN number for a complete printout of all installed options. Say HI! to PARTSMAN while you are there too. Great place. I have my MINI serviced there annually.
If you don't want the full bore IPOD interface you can get the AUX input for about $40 but your '06 could have it already.

Welcome!!! This group is fine....and Mass Motoring Club is also a great local club for you... Free to join and you get 10% off parts at Inskip too! I' m in nh, but lots of members are from ct, ri, and ma. It is also a great place chat on line... Be they also do lots of fun things....the first time you see 50 MINI's driveing down the road to get an icecream cone, it is hard not to smile!!!! Very complemantary to this group!!
Also to give you the heads up, if you Need work done on your car, Greasy's Garage in Worchester Ma is worth the drive....I drove 75 min or so to get my out of warranty car worked on, and it was soo worth it. He is THE MINI specialist in northeast!!

Where abouts in the 401 are ya? I'm in South County myself. Bought my '08 MCSa pre-owned from a local dealer, and my '09 JCW Clubman from Inskip...

The AUX input is a fairly simple install. With a mirror and small hands there is no disassembly required!
