Leaking axle seal

As a follow up to an earlier post, got the car back today from the dealer, who replaced the right axle seal under warranty. I was told that it also contains transmission fluid, hence the red fluid leak on the floor of the garage. Hopefully, this solved the problem.

Follow-up to transmission fluid leak

The bad news is that it's still leaking, same as before. Back it just went to the dealer, for a 3d try. I asked that they keep the car until they can verify that there is no more leak by putting a clean piece of cardboard underneath the engine compartment, and letting it sit for a day or so. This is not a very pleasant experience, but they have got to figure it out at some point.

Leaking axle seal

No price was given, as it was covered under warranty, but I think there is a post from about 2007 which gives a price of about $300 from a private garage, for both seals.

Axle seal follow-up

I was told by the Service Advisor at the MINI dealer that the entire axle is now being replaced. Only 8K miles on my '86. Thank God for the warranty!
