Another New Owner
Another New Owner
I an an old guy in my sixties and stand 6'2" and weigh around 250. Too big and too old for a MINI. I have been a car enthusiast my entire life, in the business for more than 40 years, and a Cadillac dealer for the last twenty. I have owned most every kind of car built in the last 50 years, anywhere from a Volkswagen to a Bentley. Far too jaded to get excited by anything you can walk in and buy off the show room floor for less than 40 grand.
Back in June, I thought I would buy my wife a new car for our Florida home and wandered into a MINI store. We looked, she drove, and I ordered her a red Convertible with a six speed and various options. We went back to Ohio and I found this Forum. Far too cool to post, I did read a lot and learned much. I discovered how to track the car through the building and transportation process and actually had the thing timed within a day of its arrival at the dealership.
On August 8, we picked it up at the dealership, about 120 miles from our Florida home. My wife didn't want to drive it home and asked if I would? Painfully, I agreed and we left.
Now I must admit, you young folks sure are smart! Most fun thing I have ever driven! Handles as well as my 911 did, sexier than my Corvette, gets as many looks as my Viper, rides better than most anything like it from a "fun" quotient, and gets as good as gas mileage as the Volkswagen I learned to drive in. We were in Florida for a week, it now has 500 miles on it and my wife got to drive it three of those.
I am now back in Ohio and really miss the little thing down in Florida. Thinking that it probably needs an Ohio cousin in black with the JCW package. Then again, maybe I will just go back to Florida so I can drive it some more! What a fun car!
