Hi! I am considering getting a Mellow Yellow Clubman with Yellow Roof and black pillars. I am also considering getting Black Bonnet Stripes. When I looked at the Mini's on the dealers lot it seemed like the black bonnet stripes could get faded over time and even begin to peel up. Have any of you found this to be a problem or something that I should be concerned about? Have you been happy with the Mellow Yellow Color? Does it show the dirt fast? Thanks for your help!

 

MINI uses mid to high quality vinyl for their stripes. They will last for at least 4-5 years if you take care of them properly. If you notice they are beginning to fade, you can safely remove them and replace them or leave your MINI naked.

 

I would not worry about the stripes as they are all decals that can be replaced if needed. I have the black stripes on my convertible that were factory applied. In fact, the ones installed by a contractor that applies stripes for the dealer are better than the factory stripes in that they tuck under the edges of the hood. The factory stripes start about 1/8" from the edge and can peel up easier. Either should last for many years. Mellow yellow is being retired so if you want it now is the time. Good Luck!

 

We don't have the Mellow Yellow Clubman....Horizon blue for us. HOWEVER, If I had the luxury of getting another one, I would most certainly go with the Mellow Yellow! As far as the stripes go....my wife doesn't like them so that's why we didn't get them. From the folks I have talked to around town and have seen their older Mini's their stripes look just fine! I think your choice of the Yellow top is a good one! Personally if you were to go with the black top, I think it would detract from such a cool color! Best of luck in your decision!
