New to NAM in NYC
Hello,
I got my MCS in october and i'm looking to put in some aftermarket stuff. I figured this would be the place to get a lot of my info. Also if anyone knows places in the area to get on a track or really let my car loose that would be great. The dealership i bought my mini from is a certified M7 dealer and installer so i've been looking at the M7 rear sway and the super AGS CAI. Hope to be in touch with a bunch of you.

Wow, you're exactly where I was 6 years ago- living in NYC and starting down the path of modding my MCS and getting on track. The easy way to learn which mods to make and in what order is to speak to Eric or his folks at Helix MiniSports. He never led me wrong and never, ever tried to "sell" me anything - he often told me not to buy items because I didn't need them at the time. No one knows these cars better.
For getting on track, you want what's known as Driver Education days "DE" events at tracks - the closest are Lime Rock Park in CT (2 hrs from NYC); Watkins Glen in NY (4 hrs from NYC - a world class Grand Prix track and one of the most fun in the country) and Summit Point in WV. For track days at these venues go with the BMW CCA, each chapter, and there are many across the Northeast, hosts DEs and they'll teach you how to drive safely on track. There's also NASANortheast.com and SCDA. All the info you need is on their sites. Good luck - but beware - it's a very pricey and addictive hobby - I moved on to become a BMW CCA Club Racer (in an M3, not my MINI) (in fact, my track day prepped '03 MCS is for sale in the MarketPlace on here right now.)
