From Beemer to Bimmer

Hello all,

Newbie to this site but not to BMWs. I've been a rabid Beemer motorcycle rider for the past 10+yrs (R100RT, R1150RT, K1200RS, F650GS, R1150GS, R1200RT) but have just recently decided to make the foray into the BMW car world. I've been eying the Mini for years and figured it is about the only car I can imagine that would be as much fun to drive as a BMW motorcycle is to ride...

SWMBO and I are heading down to Denver this weekend to check out a base Mini hardtop and can't wait. This could end up being our road-trip vehicle of choice.

Greg

Good luck on the trip to the "high country". Warning, minis can be addictive.

You are in the perfect place for a MINI. Greatest twisty mountain roads I have driven so far.

You will love it

Yes! These roads are like dying and going to heaven to ride on. I spend 3 out of 4 weekends on full weekend road trips on the bike and have yet to tire of them... I can only imagine what it's like to drive this amazing car on them as well...

You're absolutely right... and being from up in Ned, you know what you're talking about.

Today I was driving through town and had a strong urge to hit the car wash but at the last minute didn't turn in. As I passed, there was one lone guy in one of the stalls spraying off his MINI. Guess I should have followed my urge, then I could have had a nice chat about the car.

I'm getting the feeling that I've already set off in a certain direction.

My wife had an R1200C before getting a MINI convertible. One of the first things I noticed when we parked them side-by-side was that the Ivory paint on the R1200C isn't that far off of the Pepper White on her MINI.

Might want to wait a couple of days, we've got a foot of new snow here...

Part of the coven now...

Picked up the new MINI on 03/31 and so far am loving it.

As you can see from the new signature, it's a basic Cooper in Pure Silver w/ Black roof, 6spd manual. We've had some snow here every few days so for now I've kept mostly to the lowlands with only one trip up to the Peak-to-Peak between Boulder & Estes Park on icy & snow covered roads.

Had to give the MINI its first bath to get all the road grime off.

Awesome! Congrats - that's a great color combo too! The local MINI group is pretty fun, and they're planning a trip to the sand dunes this month - check out the MINI5280 forum for more details
