I just had my first gas tank fill up. I averaged 29.5 mph. I had also checked the MINI computer several times leading up to the fill up to get an idea how accurate is the calculation. It seems to be dead on ! If you take a reading way before you get the tank filled up, well then the mpg average will be off because the way you put on the miles till the fill up may increase or decrease your mpg. It won't differ that much as you get closer to filling the tank.

I was a bit disappointed with the 29.5 mpg. I had high hopes it was going to be way higher ...but that was before I hit bumper to bumper traffic heading into Washington DC on Saturday. It took me about 45 minutes to travel about 1 1/2 miles ! Many were coming in to see the Cherry Blossoms ! Then ...if that was not enough, I ran into somewhat similar traffic today heading back in there. So...given those two mpg busters and a combo of some local and highway mileage...the 29.5 mpg is probably decent.

I'd say 29.5 is pretty much "dead on" as an overall average for an S. I mean, they present 26 as City and 32 as Highway with 29 as the "combined" I believe How many miles so far?

I have a very sneaky suspicion that I mostly won't make those numbers. Partly because my regular commute is so short (5 miles) and the rest because I am definitely spirited in my driving

Congrats on your delivery louvierma!

Any word on your Minis furg or Perihelion?

Awesome! That means my dealer must have it in San Antonio....hmmm. Called my MA and got the voice mail...maybe because he's outside helping put the finishing touches on my car? If only. Congrats on the new baby

CN still reporting that the car is expected into the Edmonton rail yard on Wednesday. MA said that if he got it Wednesday, there's a chance for Saturday delivery. I put the chances at 50-50 to have my MINI this weekend. Knowing my luck though, it will end up being the 18th.

All you people from the Topeka that already have your cars, please put some miles on them for me . I keep reading what everyone has been doing and can't wait until I finally have my little Mini. The Topeka and my car is still in the Pacific heading for Port Hueneme, CA. It is now scheduled to be there on Wednesday. Another two weeks for travel to Denver from California and dealer prep. Then I get it.

And then there is MotorMouth's car. It has another boat trip.

Hey gonepostal, if you are on a WW ship then you can use http://schedule.2wglobal.com/AppTracking/ and enter your VIN (you can just put the last 7 digits) into the Cargo ID field.

If you don't show up there, then you're on a KLine ship and there's not nearly as much tracking that you can do. I don't think you can get Customs and Liner release info from them.

The Topeka has been spotted in the Pacific just west of Baja, Mexico.

You need to look real hard, but you may just be able to see it through the opening above the Topeka name at the stern.

Well everybody as of today I am...............still waiting

As far as I can tell the car has been in Toronto since around April 1. But at least there was an update to the tracking on the trucking site. It now says "Released". I have no idea what this means. I hope it means the car is now in transit to the dealership. I'd bug my MA but he's in Iceland this week. He will respond to emails though as he's another Blackberry addict. But I'm not going to bug him until I can confirm the car is at the dealership. At that point I'll make sure he gets the necessary people working on the car.

The car took almost less time to cross the ocean than this last 55km!! (that's around 34 miles)

At least the weather sucks here today, less need for the new car.

Hah, good choice...I took mine out to the drive-thru in the rain last night, put down the window to pay and got soaked when all of the water ran down off the roof! Not too happy about that design issue, it never happened in my 06 but I'm not going to let it spoil my fun

Just make sure to brake spiritedly right beforehand, let inertia push all that water down the front window

I'm with you on that design choice (and not letting it spoil my fun), you'd think with all the rain in the UK they'd have spotted that as "not ideal".

When I got my MCS and experienced that, I started looking for places to park that slanted toward the passenger side

The new Clubman has ridges on the roof edges (Is it for extra rigidity needed because of the Club Door?), and I am hoping the water stays between them and exits past the spoiler

Whoo Hoo got my car yesterday afternoon!!! It's beautiful!!! Had to go to Atlanta to pick it up, so I have about 350 miles on it. My gas mileage was 32.5 mpg driving city and hwy. Hwy usually around 80 mph. Thought that was pretty good for a cooper S Pics to follow after it warms up and stops snowing.
Keeping my fingers crossed for Steveski and Perihelion that you get your cars very soon.
CoKen hopefully it won't really take 2 weeks to get from Cal. to Denver and you will get your car very soon and be driving around with the rest of us.

Awesome furg, glad to hear it!

Guess you're in the mountains if you're still getting snow. Which means twisty roads!

I just got the call. My dealer has my car and I will pick up the Mini on Thursday! That will make it 47 days from ordering. I'm off work at 1pm and only work about 3.5km from the dealership.

I am officially passing on any and all speedy transit wishes that came my way on to Perihelion.

cameroon: I really like that blue with white rim combo you got.

Congrats Steveski!

Thanks for the compliments on the car oldsbear and Steveski. The only downside to the rims is they are an absolute bear to keep white instead of grey I've got a towel in the boot to wipe 'em off every so often between car washes.

Congrats guys! Steveski, I'm so happy for you. If my MA left town the last few days before delivery I'd be harrassing his boss! Good on you for keeping in control. Can't wait to see the pics!

CN says that my car just left Spy Hill, SK about half an hour ago and its still due to get to Edmonton tomorrow morning.
