Wooo! It's been released to the carrier, so it'll be at my dealer today or tomorrow. Unfortunately, because they have their Big Tent Event going on, they can't do delivery this weekend.

Works out ok for me though, I've got stuff I don't want to cancel on Saturday and on Monday I'll be out of work early anyway so don't have to take any vacation hours

 

Anyone else on the Sierra Nevada Highway? It seems our cars must be in the process of unloading in Charleston by now. If you have any news, please pass it along!

 

Mine should get to the dealer today and I will take delivery on Saturday!

Can't track pastthe channel.. My Mini is on the Don Carlos.Was last seen near Plymouth in the Channel.It was near there 3/25 @0600. Can it be tracked across. I have tried several websites but can't find it.. Maybe I'm not navagating the tracking websites properly.. Can't anyone help me... I'm sending out a"SOS" Thanks in advance... Gonepostal

 

Gonepostal - the only site I found that could be used to track the Faust after she left the end of the channel was www.sailwx.info. You click on ship tracker and then use your ship's callsign to find it. The Don Carlos is "SICN" It took a day or so beyond the channel before the Faust started reporting weather. This site only shows a ship position when it reports weather, and not all ships do. The most recent position on the Don Carlos was from yesterday so there's some hope.

 

Just got a call from my MA - my MINI is at the dealership! A day early! YEAH!!!!!

I'm gonna run out there tonight and take a look, and take some early pics, I'll post up as soon as I can!

I take delivery Saturday morning, 10:00AM!

I'm hoping my good luck and early arrivals will rub off on all of you so you can all get your MINI's sooner!

 

Sweet, just got word that my car is actually on a truck right now headed to my dealer. Yay

May be taking my "No Holes" front license plate kit out there to help make sure the PDI guys don't put any holes in the bumper.

 

My Craven Platypus no-holes kit arrived today and my dealer has instructions not to drill the holes...it's a 3 hour drive so I can't take the kit out there

Thank you for clearing that up. I had come across a similar statement on a government site .I didn't understand completely then. But now I get it..I thought vessels like aircraft would always send on a signal identifying themselves. A locator beacon so to speak..
Just getting excited..But several weeks away..

Latest update from my MA said the release to carrier date is 3/27 with ETA to dealership 3/29. I thought to myself, "That's exciting! Yeeha!" AND THEN HE SAID but those dates are wrong because they have to put your driving lights on at the VDC. Apparently, he believes the dealership arrival date is about a week wrong. That's not so exciting. The car got to Charleston on the 22nd.

Seems like a bunch of activity going on here since last I posted. Seems like MINIs are starting to hatch !

I suspect mine is still buried in the heap awaiting the VDC and then the sorting out before departing for VIrginia. Seeing how Camaroon has not got any word yet and his was on the Torrens....hmmm...maybe mine won't be ready for pickup instead of Tuesday more like Wednesday ...hopefully not later. So looks like I will be flirting with April Fools day !!

For those still waiting for their MINIs...and getting a bit depressed, perhaps we should consider the top 10 benefits of picking the car up later:

If my MINI is not ready till later, the good news is:
10) I have more time to collect the dough for payment !
9) I have more time before I have to start repaying the loan !
8) I do not have to feel sad yet about giving up the car I am driving now.
7) After the long wait, I will appreciate getting my new MINI even more...or
6) I have that much longer before I find out if I have been infected with some of the deficiencies I have been reading about- cold starting..
5) ..sunroof intermittent operation...
4) ...window opening up.
3) The longer I wait, the better chance that my MINI will already have had the above resolved in production by the issued service bulletins.
2) The dent I just got on my old car could have been on my new MINI !

and number 1 is...
1) The longer I have to wait till I pickup my MINI, the longer daylight hours there will be for me to enjoy it !!

Ok guys, here he is - a little dirty, ready for detailing, but my MA was awesome and took me in the back to see him! The color is one of those typical MINI chameleon colors - in the pics it looks robins egg blue, but in person it looked more teal - either way I LOVE IT!

Can't wait for delivery Saturday morning - will post more pics after I motor all day long!

 

OLarryR...I hope #2 didn't really happen! And I must thank you because your top ten list has recalibrated me and I am ready to wait indefinitely (well, maybe not quite that long) for my bright shiny new red toy.
