Taking the plunge.

Hi, first time mini buyer here. I just sent my build in to a local dealer and am bracing for the "sale" part of the exercise. bleh.
My experience with buying cars since moving to California hasn't been the best, but thought maybe people here had some stories to relate.

Otherwise, I've been driving Nissan cars since forever, though no Z cars. :(
The last couple have had automatics in them, I and I just can't take it anymore. I must go back to manual, and have thought minis were cool for a long time, so here I am.

I'm looking at getting a green clubman s.

I assume all will be lost after I actually drive one, but I've seen so many around the area in recent months that I can't stop thinking about them.

Let me be the first to welcome you to NAM.

Oh, and you're right, you will be lost after you drive one (and I haven't even driven the S, or a Clubman for that matter)!

I don't know what sales experiences others have had, but mine went rather smoothly... I didn't have high standards though. I merely decided I wouldn't haggle much as long as they played things straight with me (reading these forums gave me a pretty good idea of what to expect).

The British Racing Green is a pretty sharp color. What are your looking at with the roof? Silver? Black? Green?

Silver roof, sport pkg, Tuscan interior, chrome lines, silver bonnet stripes...

Sale part of the "exercise" goes like this.......
Customer-"I just thought I'd drop by to have a look at a Mini.
Salesman- "Let me get a contract ready for you."

I lived in Colorado for a long time, went to CU in Boulder for a while too.
CA has all the mountains on the wrong side. (they are to the east of me)

Oh yeah? When? I've been here since the fall of 1997 and in school at CU for nearly all of that time. Doctoral program currently.

Haha. Have you been back since? Lots of changes, though it's still a beautiful place.

Well, I mostly lived/worked in Denver up through 2005, but got to Boulder periodically. After living in California I will never complain about the heat in Colorado again.

Had mine about a month

I'm in love with my yellow S and, after a month or so now, the bad mojo of car-buying has just about dissipated.
