Yes, it's very worth it! Chase those dreams. Every car has its problems. As others have said on this board, most people rock along when things are going fine with their MINI and don't post about it. But if something goes wrong, people are more likely to post about it, so keep that in mind. The scale is not even.

And welcome to NAM!

Probably not a popular response, but if you're a student in NYC, I'd not waste money on a car, period. I'd save the money until you're out of school and see where your first job takes you, then buy an appropriate vehicle to suit the job and city where you land. (Unless you are monetarily-gifted, and in that case, go for a Cooper S and thrash it in the big apple!

Keepingitsuave-

I didn't mean to come across as a kill joy. If you have the budget and need/urge for a car, I think the MINI is a great urban car. I'm on my second one and have had very few problems with either. In both cases, they were repaired under warranty. Both my 03 and '06 have been as trustworthy (and a hell of a lot more fun) than the Civic SI that I bought new back in '89. I'd be really careful if you are looking at used ones with high miles as maintenance on any late model car can be very expensive, MINIs included.

Go for it! MINI is a great car in traffic and in winter!

I have no problems in NYC with the MINI.
