Potential new owner

Hi, i'm in the early stages of looking for a Mini, dont know much about them except they look nice and by spring i hope to have a good used one,new ones are not in my price range unfortunately. At the moment i'm debating whether to get a standard Cooper or the S version, the thought of the cost to replace a supercharger has me thinking standard, but when i see ads in the local paper like this http://montreal.en.craigslist.ca/cto/859348288.html
i get a warm feeling all over.
I just turned 60 and am now retired so i have a lot of time for travelling,
My last toy car was a lot of fun but at 60 i need a few more creature comforts. http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g1...1/41810012.jpg

My present daily driver is very practicle but a bit of a bore to drive

and the forum dedicated to the Yaris is HHmmmm lets say very young

So lets hope by spring i'll be looking at a summer of attending Mini events

Jim

I thought about the same before I bought my Cooper S last Nov. I test drove both and I knew I had to get the S. You can try both of them and see which one suits you more. As for purchasing a MINI, this is a great article to read about:

http://www.motoringfile.com/mini-r50r53-buyers-guide/

It basically explains the flaws in each year for the 02-06 and how they were fixed every year. If you can afford it, most would suggest an 05 and higher MINI as most of the flaws were fixed and also they implemented a new transmission that is suppose to be smoother (getrag) and also a new Projector styled head light which I think makes it look sharper (my opinion).

Good luck and welcome.

I am sure you will be very happy with a Mini. If you really like to drive (Motor) then make sure you try an S. Welcome from North Carolina.
