HELLO! says the new MINI owner. Accessory advice?

Hi there! I just picked up my first, new Mini yesterday. It's a Cooper S, chili red with black bonnet stripes. LOVE IT. I am 32 and it's still only the third car I've owned, so I tend to pick cars carefully and hang onto them for a bit of time. The Mini won me over, hands down.

Being a bit "old school," I am going to use my thule 400xt base rack system from my previous vehicle. It's not sparkling new, but it works. And I know how to use it. The new functions in the Mini are already overwhelming enough (cars have certainly changed in 10 years! haha!)...coming from the girl who refuses to get a new cell phone other than Samsung because she's used to those functions.

So there is actually a reason to my thread. I am seeking advice on accessories for the Mini. I plan to get a nose mask because I tend to hit the highway often and want to protect the bumper from chips. What other accessories (interior and exterior) have you discovered are MUST HAVES? I will be taking her up to the snow, fyi. (Any word of advice on installing chains/cables?)

Thanks all, and looking forward to chatting with you in the future.

Welcome to the NAMily!!

First off...what are you needs. Floor Mats depending on where you are from, they can be anything from Carpet to Molded, which is what I have. Check out www.weathertech.com for the molded type. We were given a nice set of Carpeted Mats on Delivery, but those are wrapped in Plastic and stored in the attic. We've also purchased the Cargo Liner...Love It!! The Console Tray...Love It Too!! A Union Jack Antenna Ball...Union Jack Valve Stem Covers...That's about it...but I'm sure there will be more down the Road.

You will want to keep your New Baby clean and pretty...check out the Detailing 101 Thread for advice on doing that and will make your head spin at the same time!!

Congrats on your new MINI. I have no advice to give on racks or snow but I had the clear-bra installed on mine. We don't have a lot of rocks on the road here but we do have bugs. The "love bugs" here can really etch the paint fast. Have not done anything else but floor mats. Will be doing some audio upgrades in the near future.

Welcome aboard!
Mud Flaps - a must for the NW
Glove Box Tidy - GoMINIGo (nice for organization)
Third Brake Light Flasher - GoMINIGo (a safety must)
Vinyl stickers to cover the airbag notices on the visors - Asthetic Creations (great visual cleanup)
Detailing supplies were next for me (it's easy to be seduced to the dark side )

Have fun with your MINI.

I'd get a glovebox organizer (I have OEM) and be done w/ it....I never really needed anything else. It'll keep your stuff from rattling around.

GoMiniGo Glovebox tidy.
iPod Adapter (if you have an iPod), and dock from Mini Mania or Moss.
Possibly the M7 Strut Reinforcement Plates if you have 17" or larger wheels.
Floor Mats.
Slime/Air Compressor kit, and Dyna-Plug kit for the boot. You have no spare.
