Break In Miles

So... I've read that you need to break in the engine for 1000, 1250 and 1500 miles. I sthere any consensus on this number. I thought that I saw the official mileage according to the home office was 1,500 miles but I can't recall if I'm correct in this. As food for thought, is this determined by miles driven or hours of operation. My commute is only 18 miles round trip but I'm driving for over an hour total. If you do the math, 50 mph is only 30 hours of operation or one month of my commute. At 18 miles driven it will take me 83 days. What a shame I'll be taking more gratuitious drives to get the mileage up, but I'm gonna need full throttle sonner than later. I know that this is a somewhat dumb logic path but, whatever. Can't hurt to satisfy my curiosity.

Every manual I've seen says 1250 (all the way back to 04).

Manual says 1250 as noted above. My commute is only 3.3 miles each way so I will need to do some supplemental driving so it doesn't take me 7 months to break in my car. I usually only average 4-5000 miles a year anyways so I leased with 10k per year, this way I can splurge on my miles driven

break in period?

So do this mean you aren't supposed to go over 50 mph for the first 1250 miles?

No you're not supposed to go over 100mph, like it says in the manual. Of course, your local laws may have something to say about that.

On further review, not all the manuals say 1250 miles, some of them say 1200. But they all say 2000km, so they're just rounding differently.

I was thinking that one of the older manuals said 1200 miles, not 1250 so I checked in the 04. However, its the newer 07 manual which says 1200.

Go to the owner's lounge and download a copy. Though they only have 07 manuals, not 08s or 09s, but the newer ones are not that different.

It is actually not to exceed 100 mph and not to exceed 4500 rpm. during the break in period. And actually can't remember if manual said 1200 or 1250. Only glanced over that part as the dealer explained it to me during orientation.

I have been trying to be a good boy during break in. I might have reved it up over 4500 rpms a few times, not very often though. My question is: Do you know if it should not exceed constant driving over 4500 or any peak might affect the engine? While driving in "sport", it is hard to keep the revs down when you hit the gas pedal.

The manual also says to go easy on the clutch during break-in.
