l've been putting together a list of cool "tricks" the mini can do,like The UNLOCK button when held in will roll down all the windows and open the sunroof unless it has been de-activated and if you have the sunroof it'll open that as well. It's got a 5 star cool factor when showing off the newest "memeber"of the family. If you'd like the list let me know and l'll email it for you. There is between 50-75 things l've picked up on the web and myself. Here's one more;
There is a slot just foreword of the riverside rear wheel that one can hide a key in
Place your hand just forward of either rear wheel near the rocker panel. Reach up and under the wheel well. You will find a flat 4"X4" secret spot no one know about but you.

Just saw the 100% option list for the 2009 MCS. WE NOW GET A SPACESAVER SPARE TIRE. Woot! Convenience Package has changed (no longer includes the armrest) and price dropped $250. Now a option is the comfort bluetooth and ipod for an additional $500 to get the armrest back.

I say you only live once. That's a big part of the justification I'm using.

Pull the trigger.

To David_In_Germany, I feel your pain. I ordered the first week in June through BMW Military Sales at Mildenhall in the UK. The MCS was delivered to the shipper today. It has been off the assembly line since 08/08/08.I have had to wait for a V5 and MOT. But I do have a nice set of Cherished plates issued in the Wimbledon district of London that I may unload for a pretty pence. I will know by next week the vessel name and number. Hopefully the sucker does not sink in the Atlantic during hurricane season.

Best of luck.

I had a Jeep Wrangler for six years. I think I feel ya. Sold it over a month ago, now, I think. Just rolling around on my motorcycle now. I live in a town where there are Jeeps EVERYWHERE, so getting nostalgic is as easy as walking down a street. I miss it, I really do, but I feel that I'll enjoy the MINI even more, though not so much during the heavy snows...

MINIs can be awesome snow cars if U have the right a/s or snow tires (nice and tall), I just dont like all that mag choloride deicer that's spread on our roads--that crap is corrosive to brakes and drivetrains if not cleaned off. that's why I have my "beater" 1986 Toyota PU with 270K miles for most winter driving--a truck I just averaged 29.7 mpg on a recent camping trip to the brown, pine-beetle-ravaged lodgepole forests of north central CO and south central WY.

We REALLY need a series of cold winters in our mountains, but it might be too late. CSU and USFS ag reports claim that every lodgepole pine in CO will be wiped out in in a decade, because these hungry little buggers are invading previously untouched old growth stands above 10,000 feet, as well as new seedlings. Pine beetles do not discriminate....

I'm all for cold, cold winters. If you know how to make that happen, you let me know, and I'll contribute to the cause! Cold winters are the best. I don't care if I can't drive anywhere--winter is my favorite season.

Welcome to the waiting game, altho it's not as bad as 4 years ago when manufacturing and shipping the cars was much more inefficient and took longer.

bump means moving the thread up in the subforum to keep new-thread-trigger-happy noobs from starting a duplicate thread. usually when it gets to the bottom of page one I will bump it up to keep it from being buried thread starters have a lot of responsibility here....

of course week 39 is less than 3 weeks away so hopefully we will all have news, VINs, etc. real soon to share.

Where did you see this. Nothing on the MINI USA site says anything about this that I can find. I did notice the Comfort Bluetooth Mobile prep and armrest are a separte line item on my order specs since my 08 turned into an 09 but I can't find anything about a spare. You name suggests you are in Germany, maybe this is a European thing?

I was wondering the same thing: why would a car with OEM run-flats even bother with a spare? When I checking to see if my boot mat and box from my lone-gone R53 would fit in an R56 I saw no provisions for a donut spare.

perhaps he confused this with the Clubman S, which yes does have a nook for a donut spare tucked way deep in the boot between the two outboard exhaust pipes.
