New Modern MINI Owner
New Modern MINI Owner
Hi all. I'm a relatively recent owner of an '08 Dark Silver S & have been looking at this site on and off for a couple of months. Seems like a bunch of great & knowledgeable folks hang out here & I thought it might be time to introduce myself.
In my past life I've owned a few german sports cars, MG's, 2 Morris Minors, & also had Morris Mini pickup truck when I lived in the British Virgin Islands. In the early 70's I co-drove a Rally Mini Cooper S with very modest success. Now I'm mostly into high performance track & street bikes (Ducati's) and dual sport motorcycles.
When BMW released their first MINI in '02, I was pretty impressed with the way they kept very close to the spirit of the old Mini. I was also impressed with the the way the weathered mileage after driving an R-53 with 76k miles on it. After witnessing my wife in the A3 3.2 Quatro running around with another gal in an R-53 on the west track at Miller Motorsports Park where we are Club Members ( I was on the east track with my Ducati 1098), I really started thinking about getting one.
I did & I'm loving it. Great all around car. I'm using it for basic transportation and the occassional track day. I've got to say I look forward to driving it through the twisties of the Payette River Canyon on the way to Boise just about as much as I love riding my bikes ... & that's saying a lot.
Hope to be able to contribute from time to time.
Best - Chris
