All Aboard the FIGARO - Departs Southhampton 7/17/08
It's this one:
http://www.ais-live.co.uk/AIS%20Live...uthampton.html
Neat little app, and you can access the webcam from their ugly interface above it. There's another webcam that appears to be right at the Southampton docks, but it doesn't refresh nearly quickly enough.

Finally got on the Figaro after getting bumped twice before!! OK, now if our captain can steer clear of massive icebergs, tsunamis and hurricanes the Figaro should be in NY next Saturday, I think.
Did someone say this ship does not stop in Halifax?

Direct NYC
Hi,
If you left on the 18th, you are on voyage EC811-FIG. That left Southampton on 7/18 and gets to NYC on 7/28...without going to Halifax, like the Otello does for its latest trip.
Cheers

I looked at sailwx and the last registered location was from January!
Maybe the best we can hope for is to track it as it comes into the Harbor on the 26th. It should get there early in the morning:

Me too
I've assumed my car hasn't been sucked into a space-time vortex, but there may be an explanation.
Most sites I can find tracking for FIGARO list it as "recruited by SE as Selected ship", which means it's a Swedish merchant vessel. sailwx.info has history for FIGARO, but that stops at the end of January.
Seeing as how the ships in the sailwx.info database are "those that participate in the World Meteorological Organization's program of voluntary at-sea weather reporting.", and seeing as how vesseltracker lists it as being registed in Singapore, I can imagine that the ship no longer participates in WMO's at sea weather program, after moving to Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics - Singapore.
But sailwx.info also says the database has ships with US-licenced radios as well. And when we look at sailwx.info's "Ship Traffic Worldwide" page, there are a number of ships all over the world. But I isee no Figaro. And I can't find a license for Figrao, but can find two for Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics.
So, I don't know if the callsign's changed, or if they just don't report. But we may not get alot of news...at least until Figaro gets closer to New Foundland, then they may show up again. There was the initial AIS tracking, but not across the ocean, it seems?
If anyone has more info let's have it!
Cheers

Out of Range
I signed up for vesseltracker.com's account. This gives you 2 hour delay. Unfortunatly, Figaro is outside the areas that vesseltracker uses.
I've seen some posts on the net on how to get http://www.aislive.com/ to work for us. So, I'm playing around with these now.

Here's a video of the main engine with a couple deck shots, too, so we can pretend we're on her:

Hopefully Astrid's immigration and adoption papers are in order or she'll be sent right back on the next boat!

I'm also on Figaro! Can't wait for my little bundle of joy to arrive!!!
Plus my wife is due that same week with our 2nd child, so it should be a real interesting week for me!
Anyone figure out how to track the cargo ship?

enroute to VDC"?
You betya! My girl is all legal and everything!
Actually, here's an interesting development. MINIUSA says my status went from "awaiting transport" to "enroute to VDC". I suppose one could consider the ship "enroute" but the photo and narrative indicates it's like on a truck to the VDC.
This is probably just an excuse for not having a "on the ship" "at the dock" "off the ship" status. Infact ASKMINI said they couldn'r track it on the ship.
But it's good she will get there a little early...I better have my suit back from the cleaners for our first meeting!
Cheers

Hi Ambidexter, I noticed today on the WW shipping site that the Figaro is scheduled to arrive in NY on July 26th. Not a huge difference from the 28th but still 2 days sooner. I'm not sure how long it takes after that it to make it to the dealer.
Hopefully Astrid's immigration and adoption papers are in order or she'll be sent right back on the next boat!

Yeah, I'm on route now, too, and wasn't at perhaps 4pm today, eastern. But, yeah, whoopee. I've known since Friday. Five days behind reality, as part of an obvious batch update, all in the age of pervasive real-time communication.
Conclusion: NAM rules! Owner's Lounge drools!

Since I'm only a few hours away from NYC, I'm hoping delivery will be sometime next week...

You Bet
Yup, you are correct. I'm just getting impatient!
It's funny, in the old days, it was OK to to oder something you wanted from a company, and have them send it in "4 to 6 weeks". Now, I need a tracking number and I want to see it at every stop along the way.
If MINI were in the mood to make a true "tracking number-like" system for keeping track of things on MINIUSA, I'd be happy to consult with them!
Cheers

Consider buying the smallest available diaper bags so you have plenty of excuses for frequent drives to the pharmacy over the first few weeks.
Patience (or lack of it)

I am growing inpatient as well. I blame Fedex on our 21st Century need to get things right away and know the exact status.
It looks like our MINIs were born on the same day and and enjoying the same transport to NYC. I purchased mine at MINI of Fairfield County (CT). What dealer did you use?
MOTH - MINI of the Hamptons
Heh, yeah, it is FedEx's fault. But what I want is even more than "left depot on truck"...I want to know where the truck is NOW!
I used Mini of the Hamptons, in LI. They had 3 cars on allocation, which they would use for their regular orders. And my MA, Gregg, sold me one of these. Considering both Boston area dealers, including Mini of Peabody - the largest selling MINI dealer in the country, couldn't deliver the goods until November, I jumped on the Hamptons' offer.
I might even let them put a dealer badge on the back...I mean, that should help people behind me in traffic...seeing that I got this "in the Hamptons".
Did the Fairfield dealer give you a good timeframe for delivery? My timeframe would have been...about 4 weeks. Everyone else was about 20+ weeks!
Actually, I herard the MINI dealer in Rhode Island also got someone on these pages one of their allocation vehicles.
Cheers

Wow, jmitchel. A newborn and a Mini arriving both on the same week... Talk about sensory/spiritual overload. Congratulations

I wonder how much of a headache mini has created for their MA's with the tracking system. I can see some overly axious folks calling every day asking why their car didn't get on the next ship out...

Did you travel far to place your order? Fortunately MOFC is just up the street from my office.
