All Aboard the FIGARO - Departs Southhampton 7/17/08
Sorry, schmoopy, it's just not reporting. I doubt we'll be able to see it until it's AIS is reporting to the port. When it's in range, we should be able to see on this website, but I doubt that will be until either late Friday night or early Saturday morning.

Didn't Have To!
I guess you could say I didn't travel far. I did it all on the phone!
Credit card deposit, signatures on documents faxed, etc.
Now, the picking it up part shouldn't be too bad. Gregg has family in Connecticut, so he said he could come over on the ferry and get me or I could drive there (if they want my trade) or take a commuter plane to Easthampton, NY a few miles from the MINI dealer.
If I drove from Eastern Mass, it would take 4 hours...including a trip on the New London - Fisher's Island Ferry. So, maybe I won't do that...I'm more interested in driving BACK!
Cheers,

I finally got my trial ID activated on the AISLIVE.COM website. They say that FIGARO's ETA in New York is "25/7/2008 20:00:00 UTC"...that's just 16 hours from now. It doesn't make much sense. But because the ship isn't showing up on AIS yet, it's possible that the ETA refers to a time when the ship will again be visible to AIS radios...as it gets closer to NY.
But it would be nice if it docked in 16 hrs!
Cheers

Actually, it was reporting that exact ETA as it left Southampton. So, I don't think it's based on actual travel progress.
ALL HANDS ON DECK - LAND HO!
I've just spotted FIGARO about 30 nautical miles due south of Martha's Vineyard. She will pass my MINI dealer in Southampton in about 2 hours, at her current speed. She will be on the dock at the VDC by about 6:15 AM EST 7/26.
Attached is a AISLIVE.COM shot of her. You can't see her on the yachtmarine New York harbor link yet, unless someone has a link that covers "under" Long Island.
Looks like we'll all be getting that call soon!
Cheers

Good job, Ambidexter! That's a pretty powerful application. But, of course, with great power comes great responsibility. So, now it's your solemn responsibility to stay up all night and post an hourly screenshot. Getting drunk is optional, but recommended.
Here's your midnight update
Here is your Midnight update:
About 40 nm South, South East of Montauk Point, Long Island;
About 110 nm due East of Port Reading, NJ;
ETA to VDC, approx 0800 EST 26-July, if 16 knots can be maintained. Probably later, as she will need to wait for slower tugs, and getting positioned in the channel and all. If I were a betting man, I'd say 10 AM.
Cheers

Look like she's docked. Here are the AISLIVE tracking shot and a Google maps shot. The dock i located at the end of a road that looks like Port Jerey Blvd.
I seem to see a bunch of MINI's on the photo, but that could be wishful thinking!
BTW, she did dock at 10:00, so I win! (dumb luck, let me assure you!)

This schedule show Figaro departs NYC Sunday the 27.
That would mean that our Minis will be unloaded tonight. They will then sit there til Monday as the VDC is not open weekends.
I hope we all made without damage and we'll be on the road to our dealers within 48 hours of Monday 8:00 AM.

Figaro in NY
Guys thanks a lot for tracking the ship! I was having a hard time knowing where the ship was vis-a-vis new york! I hope they get safely to the VDC soon so they can be trucked right out to the dealers! Mine is going to Tate in Annapolis. Wonder how long it will be at VDC and how long til it ships! Thanks again for tracking this down!
LS,
My MINI arrived at the VDC on Thursday. Yesterday my MA at MINI of Annapolis said it's usually under a week from the VDC to the dealership. That's the only info he had. I hope to pick my MINI up next Friday or Saturday...

I'm still seeing it there on http://aisserver.yachtmarine.com/US-NEWYORKHARBOR.html, though they're showing "Received 2008-07-27 19:21:41UTC" which I translate to 2:21PM eastern. SO, I guess the "live" site is out of date?
Did anyone status on the WW site change to show that their car was off-loaded? The last reported status on mine is still "Loaded on vessel."

I think this site is showing it as departed...but not sure how to read their codes....

Well I guess there's a delay in the WW site auto tracking info. I now see the status shows DISCHARGED as of yesterday at 7 AM. Perhaps it takes a day to get the system info updated. Hope all of ours are on their way to VDC soon!
