New NAM member - Radio ghost problem

I just bought a 2003 base coupe and I love it already. I sold my Audi A6 to gain great gas mileage and add fun to my life.

Strangely enough the radio has come on without anyone touching it. It also won't turn off. Anybody know what may be wrong?

My e-mail is billthaxton123@gmail.com if anybody needs it. I live in Lake Oswego, Oregon. I go by Mascotman as I am a collector of classic hood ornaments from 1920s and 1930s classic cars.

Welcome to NAM! Love Oregon! Used to have clients in your area when I traveled for business. Beautiful place!

I can't help with the radio problem... but I think if you post in the 1st Gen Stock Problems forum you will get replies that might.

Good Luck. Hope you get it sorted out soon!

Just make sure that it's not playing "Are You Lonesome Tonight?" by Elvis. If it starts playing this song, your vehicle may be a "Robot in disguise (TM)", in which case, I would report this incident to the NSA immediately and take your car directly to Area 51. Do not pass go, do not collect 200$!

Welcome to NAM and congrats on your new MINI!

If you have the HK system the power and amplifier are in the right side panel of the boot. I have seen the wires to and from the amp cross or cross with the harness for the option multiple cd changer, due to movement (read potholes etc.). Just pop open the side panel, separate all of the wires without unplugging them. You might consider wrapping any bare wire which is usually near the attachment points. The shortcircuits from the wires touching may be the cause of your radio electrical problems.
