Hello NAM,

I am you new kid to bat around... I hope to own a Mini with in a few months. I am in talks with my local dealer on what is available and what i want. But i have a few questions that can not ask a dealer and have not found any thing on here.

1. Do the dealers haggle on prices of cars that are special order or are do the charge MSRP regardless.

2. I have seen the tracking time write up but i really don't see how long it would take to get a Mini to Hawaii. I know we are a small percentage of all mini owners so there might not be the data available to get the average time from England.

And lastly i would like your opinions on the options that i have chosen this car will be an daily driver and will be on the track every month. Below are the options that i currently want.

Copper S
-Sport Package
-Xenon Lamps
-LSD
-6 speed Manual
-driving lights
-Auto Lights
-JCW Roof Spoiler
-Ipod/Bluetooth kit

I believe the JCW brakes kit is just upgrade rotors and painted calipers. If i am wrong let me know what is different then i might add that kit.

Any other options that make the car faster or lighter with out going to far into carbon fiber parts that will be after market.

I can't really comment on the performance pieces (at least anything I said would come from reading others' opinions around these boards) as I'm waiting on a "JustACooper" as a daily driver (my MA actually talked me out of an S).

What I can say is that from research I did before hand and from my experience at the dealership I don't think you're going to get them to haggle on price at all. Research at sites like Edmunds.com showed the MSRP and actual selling prices were the same. My MA pretty much confirmed they don't haggle (not for on the lot or special order). They have trouble keeping stuff in stock so they don't really need to. I expect it's partly close inventory control on the part of BMW to keep supply in line with demand and to keep the "premium" quality of the brand. Basically if you want one you need to shell out for it.

That said you might get some leeway on financing terms or trade-in (if you have one).

I know how you feel. I just joined yesterday, and I am waiting to order mine. If I had the chance, I would order today, but oh, circumstance is a cruel mistress. OMG...I just noticed the car right above me looks exactly like the one I wanna order...at least mine won't have a spoiler...what are scuttles?

 

The scuttles are the little black things (silver on the S) just forward of the doors that are attached to the side turn signal lights. They're just decorative.

 

That is what i have been noticing the pricing on used Mini's here is a little crazy too. I was just hoping that they would work with you but i will see. Just have to wait a go over the weekend. I might put the order in then still trying to decide on options.
