Looking to Motor in FL. Any advice?
Looking to Motor in FL. Any advice?
I'm looking to downsize my car and am eying a Cooper S. Any tips and advice you can share about the car would be great. Should I expect to be able to move off MSRP at all in FL? Thanks in advance.
Are you looking new or pre-owned? unfortunately, these cars aren't far off of MSRP, location regardless. And they don't do end-of-year deals...AND their "end of year" isn't in synch with other types of cars -- MINIs EOY is in Dec.
New - if you're buying off the lot, it sounds like the only place you can "deal" is when the dealer has installed stuff, and maybe they'll work on the price for you...but many dealers can't keep 'em on the lot! If you're ordering, you may be able to get some real "goodies" out of the dealer -- like extra decals (stripes, checkerboard, etc.) if that's your taste, or floor mats (I always suggest asking for two sets - carpet and rubber), or other options the dealer can get a discount on.
The last thing I'll add is: be careful of the MA - Motoring Assistant - or dealer. These cars sell themselves, so often you run into MAs that are total idiots, or overwhelmed and don't represent MINI well. If you have specific questions, search NAM and find smart people (smarter than me, anyway), or make sure you talk to service techs at the MINI dealership that can give you better info. If you get a dealer with less-than-stellar performance, there ARE ways to fix the situation...don't just accept it.
Good luck! MINIs are the best cars. (I TRY to say that in an unbiased way, but...)

Downtown MINI does sell their used MINIs at a great price. You won't get anything but MSRP though at most MINI dealerships because they are selling quickly.... Most MINIs find owners if you try I'll just wait and see if they will cave on price. One weekend, Downtown MINI sold 16! Most owners order their MINIs too...
If getting one new, about all you can generally expect is free floor mats, perhaps a badge holder. Most dealers give the MA (sales guy) about $200 worth of room for a few freebies to generate some goodwill for having to pay MSRP. That's the bad news. The good news is that as a result of the demand, MINI's don't depreciate much.
