Okay - I guess I am not as MINI wise as I thought I was. Where the hell is the cruise control?

Picked up my first MINI yesterday, after 4 hours in the dealership?? and waiting 10 days longer than I was promised for an "instock" mini - I got it and I like it alot.

Wish I could drive it faster but want to break in the engine as recomended. (Took the nephews for a quick twisty spin though ).

Last night, driving home, my passenger asked me where the cruise control was and I looked at the stalks for it and I could not find it? I assumed that without the multi-function steering wheel it would be else-where just as the phone controls are. I got home, ripped through the manual and Nope! My heart sank. A $27k car without cruise control? What car comes without cruise control today? Apparently, the MINI I took home .

I then looked throught MINIusa and was hard pressed to find anything that mentioned cruise control. Then I saw one small detail - "cruise and stereo controls incorporated right into this sport steering wheel." That to me sounds like only the controls are there not the entire system!! After all, I still have a stereo, I can still work the phone system!? WTF? Am I missing something - please advise.

 

the fact that you got to $27k without a mfsw astounds me.

but then i read you got it off the lot.

you shouldn't fret too much...i haven't even used my cruise control yet. i only plan on using it when the freeways are CHP heavy.

 

If you do not have the multifunction steering wheel, you do not have cruise control. MINI does not make a retrofit kit for the r-55/56 yet. They do make one for the first gen MINIs and I hope they end up making the kit available for the new gen cars.

 

Clubman S are pricey! - I debated this one vs. the 6 to 8 week wait, if I had known I would have configured myself. It was MSRP = 26.3K as listed above, with "free" sport stripes and mats. I would have gladly paid the extra $250 for the mfsw if I knew it was more than "easy to reach controls."

 

you have the car. thats all that really matters. cruise control is not a required thing. happy motoring!

 

True! Despite the cruise it still makes me grin!

 

Hey, can you give me the info on the retrofit kit? How much? Is there any reprogramming or such that HAS to be done by a dealer? Thanks.
