Picked up my car today at 11:00 A.M. So far so good. Many things I love about it, some things I have to get used to, some things I dont like about it. Will post some pics tomorrow and a full review and as I get to know it better.

I guess this thread is doomed to fall off into oblivion now. All of our waits are coming to an end. What a month! I'm glad it's over. Now we can all look forward to Fall and Christmas without distraction!

I didn't see The Dark Knight and the Gecko has an eye infection so I have to give him medicine.

And now, a MINI related item.

I got my first scratch on my new Clubman!

It is about two inches long on the front bumper and I am really pissed about it!

I don't know how it happened, either. The wife noticed it on Saturday morning.

I guess it's time for some touch-up paint.

I also almost scewed up in a large empty office depot parking lot and in a handicap space(have permit) looked at evry space and non have cement stoppers so pull forward load the worst sound ever....the only stop is on mine.... get out and no damage just scaping the black in front a bit......... I was lucky,,,,,,

I got a chip on my hood within 3 days. A clear bra wouldnt have saved it... it's in the middle of hood, slightly off center, and right down to metal, too.

Oh well. Chips happen.

My dual boot badge holder should arrive tomorrow. I have my two badges to go on it.

I also will pick up my tag tomorrow or the next day. It will be a Barber Motor Sports tag that has checkerboard on it. I have reserved 'R56' as my tag number.

At least my scracth is on the plastic bumper so it won't rust.

Merlin, you will definitely need to get yours fixed. Or maybe just apply Sprt Stripes to cover it up....

cybergyspy, I once owned a '69 Dodge Dart that I loved. My ex-girlfriend called me to tell me she saw it parked under an overpass one day so I drove out the next morning to look at it but it was gone. She said she saw some guy fixing it on her way to work. I would have offered to buy it back from him if it was there.

There were a lot of good memories in that car, which I guess is why the ex called.....

We can have our cars send Christmas and/or birthday cars to each other.

Oh, I don;t know if I mentioned the smudge on my tach. My MA noticed it when I was picking up the car. It is very small but he had me bring the car back to see if they could get it off. They couldn't so they are ordering new "glass" for it.

Also, like other Clubmans (Clubmen?), the weather stripping on the bottom of the driver's door is missing. I understand that BMW deleted that part for some reason but the dealer is ordering that for me as well.

Do the regluar (non-Clubman) MINIs and converts have the weather stripping at the bottom of the driver's door?

My husband inherited his father's '70 (or is it a '71? can't remember) Dodge Dart Swinger. He loves that car. He has many fond memories of going to the drag strip with his dad and racing the car. Good stuff.

BTW -- I get my Checkerboard roof decal installed tomorrow.

And I'm going to go by Advanced Autoparts to see if I can find one of those LED dragons to go in the cig lighter port.

Here's Maxx...I picked him up Thurs 7/31 from Philippe Kahn at South Bay Mini.

Special "Green" note: Instead of getting my friend to drive me to Torrance from San Diego I took:

1. The San Diego bus from my neighborhood to Downtown SD
2. Greyhound to Long Beach
3. Walked about 10 min to get to the next bus stop
4. Took Torrance city bus from Long Beach to about 2 miles from dealer, Philippe found me and picked me up using the text message technique to pin-point my exact whereabouts.
