First Post-06 MCS–> 08 ClubmanS–> 06 MCS!
Hello to all! I’ve been a Mini owner since April 2006, but just recently found NAM. Wish I had found you all sooner! I’ve learned a lot from your collective posts.
So, the story of my header ... my ‘06 MCS was the best car I ever owned. Hyper Blue/White; 6-Speed; Chrono Pack; Premium-Convenience-Cold Weather Packages; DSC; 17" low-profile run-flats; HK premium sound; “S” logo mats; Garmin Nuvi GPS ... in short ... sweet!
I ordered and took delivery on April 26 of a Clubman S. I loved the Clubman’s body; the dual rear doors; the storage; the “smoother” ride. On the flip side, I missed the throaty growl of my super-charged engine; missed my crono-pack; missed the crisp clear sound of my HK premium sound. After 4-days, I negotiated a deal and reclaimed my ‘06 MCS.
Reasons: 1) torque-steer; 2) lame-sounding turbo engine; 3) dorky 16" wheels (my fault); 4) muffled premium sound system; 5) convenience pack iPod connection. I admit, I had not done enough homework. I assumed my ‘08 would be as good as my ‘06. IMO, it wasn’t
Lesson: Just because it’s new ... doesn’t mean its better.
My dealership experience (Flow Mini, Winston-Salem, NC) had always been very positive as was my experience with my ‘08 order. The car itself was a disappointment to me, but the staff at Flow still managed to keep a positive attitude. We all walked away still talking to one another, and I will probably try another Clubman in ‘09. This time, with my eyes wide open!

Welcome to NAM! I'm still a newbie here and learning a lot as I go. Sorry that you were disappointed with your Clubman, but it's good to hear that Flow Mini worked with you and got you back in your first love

Glad to have you aboard on NAM - sorry it took you a while to find us - but now that you have - Yayyy - stick around. Sorry the Clubman didn't work out - but that's okay - not everybody likes it. But you still have a MINI - so Happy Motoring!!!Donna
