Well we didn't manage to get on the ASAIN CHORUS. We weren't a standby on the list - I guess they were having loading problems.
It could be worst - could be a week 24 or later. At least MINI can execute a proper shutdown of the line that will speed a restart.

Hey MINIMalistnam and cooperfan1024, great to have you aboard too! Sorry for the late reply, just catching up... I think we'll see a couple more folks chime in on the S.N. Highway since AskMini is so delayed. it's going to be a great cruise. The pond looks clear and we have a good ship under our wheels. Let's party!

Let's hope that MINI does not hold outgoing completed cars due to this shutdown. If they pay for the entire ship's worth of cargo regardless of whether they fill it or not, maybe they would hold the ship at port until their production started back up and they could fill the ship!

Grrrr I can't believe it. Maybe you'll get on the Western highway today!

Question of the day and just another thing help grow the Week 23 thread:
Once you clear inspection at the VDC what happens if there's only a couple of Mini's that are going to your specific city? Since the Mini's come into the VDC grouped by ship, is there a chance they would wait to transport your car to your dealership only when the truck gets a full load? Would you have to then wait for the next ship to drop off more Mini's that are going to your city so that the car carrier gets full? Maybe it's not a problem because we here on the forum only see a small portion of the cars that come into the VDC and that they never have a issue with getting full loads on the car carriers. Or, maybe they don't wait for full loads and they just send what they have available at the time. Hmmm....

Charleston to dealer
Another vote for OWG for the reunion chair from the 7th place 'poster' guy.

Good question. My MA says about a week to go from Charleston to here in the Midwest, but also that it varies or or less because it can 'get hung up' in Charleston. If I were shipping new cars, I would wait to fill the car carrier, esp with $4 gasoline..

That's what I was thinking too. It may not matter in our case because we we have two ships coming into Charleston close to each other. Also, Since Mini is BMW owned, maybe they would truck Beemers and Minis in the same carrier.

The ships haul on a circuit - not all of the cargo belongs to one manufacturer. Like a shark they have to keep moving, evey day not hauling is a revenue loss. Infact they haul anything that rolls and fits under the decks overhead. They drop off and pickup at every port - Every time I drive through Baltimore I see a bunch of Jeeps awaiting ships.
Sooo... the ability to move used construction equipment and other opportunistic cargo will increase.
