Well, you can see the schedule for the Carmen here http://schedule.2wglobal.com/AppSche...esselSearch.do
It looks like it's scheduled to be at the distribution center here in CA on April 28th, then it takes a couple days at your dealer, and then you can go pick it up!
But after you find out which ship yours is on on the WW site, you're supposed to be able to track it across the ocean using this site: www.sailwx.info but I haven't been able to see Carmen, unless it the one that's 17 days out of date....

I have a Nightfire Red Clubman onboard the Carmen!
She's Mini number 3 for us.
I haven't found where the Carmen is at sea, just the due date into California. Post if you find her!
And congrats on becoming a Mini owner!

hey thanks! and congrats to you too! (on your third purchase of course!)
My MCS is on the Carmen right now as well. I haven't had any luck tracking its location either. There's alot of "Carmens" on the list, and the only one with info last reported at the end of March. At least I know it'll arrive in CA on the 28th.
Drop him a note, he'll hook you up with the site information. He's a great guy.
You might try contacting GSimpson on NAM. He's a wizzard at tracking the transport ships. In fact, the last time the CARMEN made her voyage, he helped us track her start to finish, including an all-day experience watching her go through the locks at the Panama Canal.

OooOoOoo, that sounds nice! Thanks! I think I will send him a message
How'd the CARMEN fare when it brought your MINI?
Mike's MINI, Deacon, is the one that arrived on the CARMEN.

So, the waiting is actually harder than I thought it would be at this point! I don't like the "on the boat" period one bit! I know the Carmen is somewhere near Panama by now...or at least getting close, as she's scheduled to be through the Panama canal on the 19th (this saturday).
Ugh! I can't help thinking about my new MINI, and I hope that when it finally reaches my dealer they'll call me the second it's off the truck! (But they probably won't, right?)
I'm hoping because Port Huenume Or however it's spelled is only 1.5 hours away from the dealership, it should reach there fairly quickly...ughh....

funny, I'm not as excited as I thought I'd be. I've been on a bit of a rollercoaster ride since ordering. I was excited, then I sold my old car which made we rethink my mini order. Then I considered the economy and really doubted the timing of my decision. I looked at other cars, some new, some older which I really liked. Then I looked at aftermarket stuff for the mini and got excited again etc. Up then down. I've never done the order and wait thing for a car before. It gives you time to rethink your decision. Either way, I'm fairly committed to my decision now... Not to mention I'm also tired of driving my dad's grocery getter. The mini will surely be a relief after driving the wagon.
Pocket, a little buyer's remorse I think is normal. I'm a little worried going from a V8 4runner (suv obviously) to a compact miniature car.
I'm worried about being able to tote my dog's crate around where we go along with all the stuff we take on vacations.
I know there will be some adjustments, but overall I think it's a good purchase 1. for the fuel efficiency (I was on E yesterday in the 4Runner and it took me over $100
to fill up my tank, which has never happened before
!) 3. for the parking conveniences and 2. for the coolness factor if nothing else!
p.s. is your MINI on the Carmen as well? Shipmates, perhaps?

Agreed, some buyers remorse is to be expected. I'm very confident the Mini will satisfy my needs as it is, bar none, the most complete combination of fun, sport, and efficiency on the market.
A rental experience in a Prius got me thinking about efficiency recently. The hybrid options are still a bit oddball and the mini seemed a great compromise. I'm coming from a subaru legacy gt whose combination of awd and turbo made it very thirsty (allbeit less than the 4Runner).
I suppose the "regret" has more to do with the financing and timing than the car choice.
And yes, it would appear we're shipmates aboard the Carmen. I'm in Washington so hopefully it doesn't take too long to get here from CA. Not too much longer now...

Yeah... luckily I'm off today, or I'd never get any work done checking on it. We got nothing done yesterday, and were up compulsively checking on it last night. It's an illness.....
When we bought our first MINI, it wasn't on WW, so we weren't able to track it - didn't know anything until our MA told us it was on a truck coming up from Port Heuneme! This is a lot more fun .... but also a lot more distracting!
