Howdy Yall,

I don't really talk that way. I am the proud new owner of an 08 Clubman S. I had always wanted a Mini since I first saw them while traveling in England when I was a kid (1975). When BMW re-introduced the Mini, I was Hooked. A couple of friends at work have the Cooper S and one of them has the GP, again, I was hooked. When the company I work for offered to allow us to drive what we wanted insted of the 3 Fords that were offered. I saw my Golden oppertunity, and was able to Get one of the First 08 Clubmans in Dallas. Still had to wait until Feb 16th to pick it up, but worth it. Living in a rural area just North of Dallas, I do not need the Run Flat tires that came on the car. As luck would have it, I picked up a nail at the 700 mile point. I was a bit miffed at the dealers "Can't Be Repaired" spill, but when I called Dunlop, they sent me to a Discount Tire, and they repaired the tire. So I will be selling 3 and giving away the 4th with just 1500 miles on them.

Howdy/Hola from San Antonio.

You know, all these MINI Takes the States locations are too far away for us Texans. We ought to get something going in this part of the country.

Another Austinite here.

Welcome aboard, bart!

What part of "rural area just north of Dallas" are you in? I grew up in Lewisville, and my Dad moved further north to Corinth. My Mom just moved out to Possum Kingdom Station (though, that's more west than anything else).

From a West Coaster, what does "Gig'em" mean? BTW, my mother's daddy was from Grand Saline, TX. My great-aunt was born in Paris, TX. I love TX!

Welcome to bartpace!!!!

Howdy and welcome. I'm a displaced native Texan in New York City. Don't worry. I don't use that other picante sauce.

I wish I could be driving the open roads of Texas. Hard to really let loose here with all the congestion.

UT Austin and Texas A&M are the big rival state colleges/universities

"Gig 'em (Aggies)" - Texas A&M Aggies fight cry
"Hook 'Em Horns!" - University of Texas Longhorns
Whoop! - No idea.

Thanks! Maybe "Whoop!" is a happy exclamation any old time?

Whoop! is from the wildcats each class says after the cheerleaders lead a yell during a sporting event. Each class (freshmen, softmore, junior, senior) has a different wildcat, and it's considered bad form to do a wildcat for a class higher than your own (and in the case of those in the Corps of Cadets, doing so can earn you a punishment in the form of push-ups.)

Juniors are the first class allowed to use the "Whoop!" (though it has to be preceeded by yelling "Ai!" three times. Seniors can use the Whoop at will.

There are a lot of silly traditions like that at A&M, but it really does do its job in creating a huge sense of school pride (quite a feat for a state known for its overwhelming state pride.)

I went to A&M my first year in college, and then "turned traitor" and transferred to UT Austin.

SHINER SHINER SHINER was my thoughts too. I moved from Texas to the Pacific Northwest and that was the one beer I missed the most at first....now I miss the Oregon micro brews since we moved back to Texas but there is always Shiner in the fridge

yeah but, shiner is readily available here everywhere and is always my fall back. lone star however is tougher to get and also, it has always been my favorite beer.
