Hello from the UK

I've been lurking here for a whle trying to pick up some tips for a vacation to California we're planning for June.

Looking for some good roads to drive, even if it will be in a rental car

I own a 2008 Dark Silver Cooper S with the Chilli Pack as we call it here in the UK.

This is a really fascinating forum and I'm happy to be a (little) part of it.

What part of California? The road from San Fransisco to San Jose is fun... Highway 101. Lots of beach side restaurant's. Not fast like the M1 but awesome view of the ocean. But when I was in San Jose I drove out to Santa Cruz Boardwalk and that was one very twisty road. VERY fun. Highway 17.

I'm not from California, I just go out there for work occasionally. I'm sure there are other places to go as well.

Welcome to NAM, Barrie! Where are you going in Cali? And when? I'm in Los Angeles. Be sure to post in the various regional forums where you'll be visiting. The MINI folks there will be able to give you some great pointers and perhaps put a little fun-run or pub night together.

The state of California is larger than the UK so there are plenty of great raods to drive you need to be more specific about where in California you will be.

If you are going to N. CA I would go along the 101 and to the Redwood Forest. It wonderful roads and the Redwoods are beautiful.

Thanks for the good wishes. Peter and Rick from the REME have already been very helpful so thank you to them. I have the dates pretty much nailed down to June 6th - 23rd but I don't know yet if we're travelling South to North like we did 3 years ago (San Diego to San Francisco) or the other way around.

One thing's for sure - we haven't seen the Redwoods before so that's a priority this time.
