Ooooooohhhh.

Well, the left graphic has a slight shadow effect and the right one had a shadow under it so I left it alone.

Actually I think the big ships are guided by small electric tugs on the sides of the canal when then get close to the locks. I was once told that panamax, the maximum the canal can hold such as the Queen Elisabeth II, has about 2 feet on either side when in the locks.

I'd love to see pictures! I miss Panama.

You're right on the shadow. I missed that earlier. Were you stationed/living in Panama at some point?

Hey, I borrowed a camera for tomorrow ... Hoping I'll be able to get the pics downloaded before I get back to the office. Don't think I'll get much sleep tonight.

Anyone else hear anything on their deliveries?

So, with you all being Week 12's -- when was your production date scheduled? I'm trying to figure out what week I am (i've had my MINI a month and am curious). I think i may be Week 11 according to a calendar posted in another thread. Feb 15th was the date my Owner's Lounge changed to "scheduled for production"

There are a bunch there of the centennial bridge webcam. Unfortunately it was dark when it got to miraflores so there aren't as many. I've got lots more but those have already been uploaded by others.

Also found out that you can email in a request for them to change the angle of the miraflores webcam so you can look back at the pedro miguel locks and actually see the ships lowered...very cool!

Yes, I was stationed at Howard AB, Panama from '79 to '81. Which is where I met my girlfriend Lynn. <3

Actually I think there's something on the car itself that states the actual production week... read that somewhere. I'll look in the morning. We are week 12 because production stated the 2nd week of March. Some people ordered in Feburary. I ordered on the 11th of March and production started the next day.

Scheduled for production doesn't mean it has actually started yet plus the OL is notoriously slow. You need the week of the year it actually started production. Then again.. it doesn't really matter.. you got your car already!! ^_^

Okay.. I can understand that. I wanted to know what it was for mine too so I found the link here in NAM showing how to check.

You can look in the drivers side door jam but it only states the month and year. Mine was 03/08.

But you can get the exact date with the odometer reset button.
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...d.php?t=111025

Mine is 13/03/08. So my car was born on the 13th of March 2008. Just 3 days after my birthday.

Hey, y'all! Got my baby home yest. aft. Took some pics, but I may not be able to get them downloaded until I go back to work next week (don't have PhotoShop here, and I'm using a borrowed camera).

Will catch up on postings, and all a little later this weekend. I can't stand to look out my window and not go get behind the wheel ... WHY didn't I get a MINI earlier? Well, I see the light now, anyway ...

Gotta run to move furniture for mom and take our old Trooper to a guy who's going to clean her up and sell her for us. A great ol' gal, but she needs a new home now.

Ok, so - i took your advice and checked holding the reset odo button and found out that my prod date is 2/11/08 -- but i only placed my order on 2/9/08. Is that even possible? It seems way too soon!

Yes, well mine was ordered late in the evening on the 11th of March and my prod date is the 13th of March. When they have a mind to, they can get right to work!

So glad you got her home safe and sound. We'll be waiting for those pictures! Good luck in selling your old car.

Drat! Will have to wait on pictures. I'm missing the part to the camera that allows me to download the pics.

Having a blast! Norm, it's everything I expected and more! Been washing, waxing, driving and bonding this weekend (inbetween short rainstorms ). Taking another day off tom. to play a litle more!

Wow! You've travelled quite a bit while in the AF. How does Lynn like Bruiser? Do you two fight over the keys?

I'm not the expert, but Ask MINI told me my production week was based on completion date, which fits my sitution. My baby started down the assembly line 3/14 and rolled off the assembly line 3/20, according to Ask MINI and my embarrasingly high number of calls to them .

The date on my vehicle (pressing the tripometer button, etc.) shows 3/12. From what I found out at Ask MINI and my MA, is that production technically starts before your car starts down the assembly line. That's when parts, etc., get pulled, lined up, etc., for the actual build. Based on my date, and yours, I THINK this is the date we are seeing. I'm also basing this on my hubby's understanding of builds and production (he used to work on a Mac Truck assembly line) ...

I still think I may celebrate my baby's birthday as 3/20, when she rolled off the line and first roared to life.

So, i think i'll just call ASKMINI and see if they can backtrack and tell me my completion date and week number. I've been meaning to call them anyway to see if they're mailing me one of those 'adventure kits' or 'welcome package' -- whatever you call it.

when I start the car 3/20 comes up on the message screen, her B'day.

She is now sitting in the garage, w/ 4 coats of wax, under the MINI Indoor car cover- and i've got to say, this car cover is the best i've seen.

Mine is covered in a fine layer of dirt under which is some Hydro. Gives it a nice "motored" look to it.

I had that one day with nice weather and since have had lots of precipitation. Actually had a bit of snow but by the time I got out in it, it had all but disappeared. I drove out to where I know they auto cross a lot in hopes of doing donuts in the empty lot. Much to my surprise I saw over a dozen very cold motorcyclists getting schooled on how to ride. I thought it best not to do donuts in front of them. On my way back I saw a LiB/LiB MINI and as I drove by I waved. He caught back up and rolled down his window and shouted out, "Just buy it?", I figured he saw my temporary tags, I nodded and said, "Yes!", he nods in approval and shouts, "Mines an 07". He then gives me a thumbs up and continues on his way. My first MINI wave/drive by.

Now had I been in Texas where everyone is friendly and waves, it would be nothing to have this happen I suppose, but in Minnesota, no one waves, no one rolls down there window at 65 mph and has a conversation with you.

I'm going to like MINI life.

By the way, I just hit 901 miles.

Lynn has yet to drive it. She's scared she'll hurt it. She'll come around soon though.

Yes, I had my share of traveling with the Air Force: Texas, Mississippi, Nebraska, Panama Canal, Oklahoma, Japan, U.K., and Georgia. Still need to hit more of Europe... putting that in my bucket list.

Top of that list was having a real driving machine. I can check that one off.

Wow! IN the garage AND a car cover? Your baby is quite the pampered one--lucky MINI!

No garage. Rained off and on all weekend, but I managed to wash, wax, do trim, etc. on the outside, some Nero, etc. on the inside when it wasn't raining.

Is it my baby or have y'all all noticed a lot of brake dust? I read in the manual that there's a 300-mi. break-in on them, so does some of that subside?

Wow! To both the 901 miles and all the places you've been!

MINI life is good, isn't it? Took my boss for a spin today. I won't be surprised if he ends up getting one down the road!

Yes, lots of brake dust. I just passed 1500mi and dont think there is as much of it as when i first picked her up but it's still there. I think i remember reading that Black Wow can be used on the wheels as well, to help keep some of the brake dust off. I haven't bought my BW yet but when i do, it cant hurt to give it a shot!

I used the Wheel Armour this weekend, but may need to do more than one coat. Also, I didn't get the Black Wow. I got the Black Renew. Thought it might be a little easier for a newbie like me to work with. Good to know for next order, though. Thanks!

Stella has 400+ miles and the brake dust has subsided already. Although, she did get TWO baths this weekend...that may have something to do with it.
I LOVE THIS CAR!

Yeah, lots of brake dust! I haven't washed it a second time yet. Looks like Sunday may see some sun.. but the other days have off and on rain. Oh well, fun to drive in the rain too.

Actually, I feel a need to motor even now!

I hear ya Norm! I get an overwhelming urge to just drive at times! I will sometimes go out in the garage and just sit in Stella. The neighbor pulled in the drive Saturday morning at 7:15 AM. Said he saw the door go up and he came to investigate the new vehicle. He found me in my pink fluffy robe, sitting in Stella with a cup of coffee and the iPod turned up. We nearly scared the be-Jesus out of each other!

LOL, that's funny.

Well, I don't have a pink fluffy robe but I have been known to go out a half dozen times in an evening to see something work I didn't know how to do before... like how to get the pathway lighting to work. I read and reread the manual and just didn't get it until I read someone here in NAM ask and get a better response than the manual gave. If you didn't know, you have to turn the engine off, then radio, then flash your brights then leave the car. This will allow the car to leave the lights on for the programmed length of time - 40 seconds in my case.
