Future mini owner, what to look at be4 buying?

Hello,

My name is Jee and i currently reside near DC.
I am currently in the market for a used mini S.

My question is, if I were to purchase an 02 or 03 mini S what should i look for except for the general used car problems.
Is there anything in particular I should look for, for those following years?
Any big transmission or engine problems with those year MCS?

Thanks in advance,
Soon to be mini owner.

Well while reading through thread to threads it looks like the vehicle problem just varies between owners. No single problem that is consistent... hmmmm..

from what I have find, they are pretty reliable. but with any car, its best to get lower miles and talk to owners

So I test drove a 2003 MCS.
The car handled superb just as I was told.
But there was a small seepage of fluid under the ATF reservoir where it meets one of the feed lines, and also a small seepage around the valve cover gasket.

In addition the vehicle made some small fluttering noise. It reminded me of my old car that had a time and chain inside the engine, in which sometimes the tensioner goes bad on those. Do mini coopers have anything in the motor that would cause this weird fluttering noise?
