I really did try searching the posts, but had no luck. Is the chassis number part of the VIN? If not, where is it physically located?

Service Action: Replace the Dashboard Storage / CD Changer Compartment Trim
MODEL
R56 (Cooper and Cooper S)
SITUATION
The decorative trim panel which acts as the cover for the dashboard storage compartment / CD changer compartment located above the glove
box does not meet quality requirements and must be replaced.
AFFECTED VEHICLES
This Service Action involves certain R56 Cooper and Cooper S vehicles produced up to December 22, 2007.
In order to determine if a specific vehicle is affected by this Service Action it will be necessary to utilize the "Service Menu" of DCSnet
(Dealer Communication System) or the Key Reader. Based on the response of the system, either proceed with the corrective action or take no
further action.
The Chassis Number Ranges listed below are only for informational purposes and are not to be considered as the only deciding factor.
