New to the NAMily!
Hello Everyone. My name is John and I am a first time MINI owner, but I have owned BMW's for the past ten years. Before that, I used to build and race Mustang 5.0's at Raceway Park in Englishtown NJ and Atco Raceway in south Jersey.
I purchased an 07 MCS back in May and have already put on 25,000 miles driving up and down the Garden State Pkwy. It just has the basics; sunroof, auto A/C, cold weather pkg., comfort access. I didn't want to get one that was topping out close to $30,000 since I was going to have close to 100,000 miles on it in two years! After driving so many miles in such a short period of time, there are some features I should have opted for, such as, the limited-slip diff., DSC, sport suspension and the Hi-Fi stereo. But after all the cars I've ever owned, this one is the BEST!! I call it my 'street legal go-kart'. I actually look forward to my 2 hour commute(one-way)!! There's never a dull moment when you're bangin' a 6 speed!
I'm really glad I found this site. It has been very helpful. Some of the little quirks that I have noticed over the past few months, other members have noticed as well, such as, humming noise between 60 and 70 mph, thumping noise under the hood that goes away when you press the clutch in, and that slight, annoying chatter that occurs when you start the car on a very cold morning. At least I know I wasn't crazy when I was trying to explain these things to the MINI SA.
