After market installation of Sirius Radio

Hello all. I'm the proud owner of a 2006 Mini. I got a Sirius radio for Christmas. Is it better to install the radio and where does it go? Or should I bite the bullet and go to the dealer for an installation of a Sirius radio?

I have a 2007 MCS and the dealer wants $1,075. I got a Stilleto 2 for xmas and Best Buy just installed it with a car kit, custom install (cost extra), etc. The total cost was around $500.00 including the $300+ Stilleto. If it was the same price I would get the OEM but it is not and couldn't justify the dealer price. The plus side is that the Stilleto is portable and I can take it places. FYI, I was going to get a small sportster or something similar and put it in the small cubby below the center console and it would have fit nicely except for covering up my AUX plug in. Besides that I'm glad I didn't because the unit would have been too low and difficult to access. Currently, the Stilleto is half way up on the center console and angled for easy access and viewing on the right side. If you go this way, make sure you talk with the installer (probably a young kid) and convey your concerns which I did and I think I got a more thoughtful install because he knew I would be watching. Kinda like interviewing for the job. I started this process several weeks before asking questions when I was in the store buying a DVD, CD, etc. if they had ever installed in a Mini and just getting a feel for their comptencey. I know I went over board but I didn't want any problems if I could avoid it. Go over exactly where you want it so its not in the way of the glove box, right side air/heat control. Its working very well but wasn't cheap compared to the other portables they offer.

Good luck
