PPrince, have fun in the snow. Watch out for those suv's & pickups. It's snowing here too. We had a close encounter with a bozo who thought his big honkin 4x4 pickup could break the laws of physic's. He spun right in front of us & bashed a poor defenseless curb. My Hakka snow tires enabled me to stop & avoid the bozo.

Hey IsAMini,

Thanks for the welcome. I didn't think it snowed much more than a few flakes in SW Ohio!

It's been snowing pretty good here today. Our test drive went well. Not any worse than most small front wheel drive cars with new tires. Better than the Celica that we traded in. I can see the car would handle better with good snow tires. I'll have to give it consideration.

Next winter I bought some Blizzaks (15") from the Firestone guy Dave at Richmond Mall in Richmond Heights. Phone 440-461-4747. Ran about $400.00 installed for a set of 4. They improved the snowability of the MINI a bunch. I bought 17" S-Lites from a Club member and put the Firestone "Fusion" tires for summer use. Speed rated, directional tread, etc. etc. for about $105.00 each installed. Sounds like your '08 is really neat. Enjoy! Mike Predina Cell 216-469-0915
Hi Mike,

Thanks for the hat tip on snow tires. I've heard mention of "Blissaks" before, but don't know much about them personally. I'll have to check them out. The pricing sounds good. When I made a casual inquiry at the BMW parts counter, he quoted me $190 each for something (I didn't even bother writing it down) plus installation! Your price sounds a lot better!

Chrashton,

I'm glad to hear you didn't live up to your name!

Our first test went fine. It has snowed a lot more since this afternoon and I'd like to head out again, but we've already started cocktail hour and no need to be out on the streets in a snow storm after imbibing.

I'm sure I'll get other opportunities. If we decide to get some snows I'll do some searches and see what people recommend. You must like your Hakka's.
