I'm about 50 miles from break-in and loving every mile!

Mods so far are tint and antenna (husband is OCD about them, so he's traded mine for a stubby one). Wheels are next...probably within a couple of weeks.

Here's my list:

3. Installed a new oddments tray to hold my compressor and slime can;
4. Installed the Warning Triangle;
Does the jack and all the other standard tools fit in the new oddments tray? Where did you get the triangle. New Mini Stuff has them but they get very expensive with shipping to the states.

All the standard tools fit in the new oddments tray including the folding wheel chock (which I removed from the picture so you could see the jack). In the end, the tray saved me from hauling the MINI Mobility kit in a separate bag...thus, saving room in the space-precious boot!

As for the warning triangle, I ordered it from New MINI Stuff and yeah it was expensive given shipping charges from the UK...but for obsessives like me, I overlooked that!

I just hit 2,800 and I bought it in June. To much sand on the road. Just a fews more years and I'm heading to Florida.

Finally out of the garage! Here's the GPS pics as well. Make sure to drill in the right side of the ash tray.

Super Dave, nice job. I hadn't even thought about using the ash tray. Good thinking! Did the GPS part of the mount come with the GPS or did you buy it separately? It looks like one of Arkon industries mounts.

Yeah, it's the mount that comes included.

That lower **** normally screws onto the suction cup mount. I just removed the suction cup mounty thingy and used the same screw through the ash tray. (Hope I wasn't too technical!)

I'm at about 3200 miles and just coming up on owning the car for two months (tomorrow). I have loved every mile and most of them have been put on just by going on exploratory drives to find out where a particular road goes. I've found some interesting places and some awesome driving roads along the way...not to mention finding some really good restaurants.

Yep, it's an Arkon mount. They are probably the suppliers to the GPS manufacture. Arkon's site.

It's the CM017-5PS-2 in case anyone else wants to mount something that way. You could buy the double T plate near the bottom of that page to give you a flat surface to mount other devices.

Yeah, I avoided the freeway today and found a pretty good mexican restaurant. Saw 4 other MINIs today, three of them red! Got waves from the ones that saw me. I love that.

I'm at 1,505...

So Far I have installed a Harmon Kardon drive+play. I had it in my old MINI and decided I couldn't live w/o it in the new. You run your I-pod through it and the display looks and works just like an I-POD. It is currently installed near the emergency brake not sure I will leave it there.

I ordered Zaino detailing products for the leather and also a wash bucket with a grime gaurd. I already have plenty of external Zaino products left over from my old MINI. However it has been snowing and cold so no wash yet.
Also ordered a touch up pen ( just in case)

Got stuck in the MINI for the 1st time ever. Had to dig the snow out from front tires to get going...not fun beleive me. I think the All seasons that came with the car are too low profile and that is why I got stuck.

The car has been running great so glad to get through the break in.

The only anoying thing is the fingerprints on the wood dash especially over the "secret compartment"
Also nose and hand prints all over my windows from strangers looking in the window when I am not there. Saw a older couple starring into it while I was in a restaurant near a window where I could see my car.

I still have no pics because the car is perpetually dirty due to weather. This is my daily driver so it gets dirty.

Anyone going to AMVIV5( a mini vacation in vegas). I am going to have stripes put on by Aesthetic Creations. I got a gift cert from Aesthetic Creations from my Bro-in law. If you have never been to AMVIV you should go..tons of MINIs classic and new and tons of cool people and vendors. The dates are 3/27-3/30.

What secret compartment?... there's no secret compartment... there's nothing to see here... move along...

I was just listening to Whiteroof Radio and they were talking about AMVIV, I'm going to make an effort to be there! It will be my first event.

PS- I think that there should be more "dirty" pictures of MINIs posted as well! (you know, mud and grit)

Thanks for the reminder... I forgot about the Spruce Goose! I remember going to see it when it was still in that big white dome here in the LBC. I didn't know where they moved it to until just now.

BTW, that crazy big dome is a Carnival Cruise ships terminal now. I'm sure it was a lot cooler with the plane in it.

Mini Field Kit

Did anyone else receive a MINI field kit recently? I don't remember ordering it and it's very cool!

A mouse pad, a MINI pen, window poetry clings, a motoring journal, a couple of insider instruction bookets and a super secret compartment with super secret stuff inside. Even an official MINI rubber band!

WOW! My friends think that I have joined a cult!

I had to email MiniUSA and request it. I am still waiting. Some seem to get them with 4-6 weeks of buying their car.

Joining the thread.

I am at 2025 miles after 6 months. For the most part, the Mini is sleeping the winter away in the back of the garage. Can't wait for warmer, snow & salt free days.

I got my field kit about 3 months after my purchase. It was fun to see free mini goodies.

Yeah. It was great to get it. I remember thinking when I picked up my MINI that I was surprised that there wasn't some sort of creative little swag bag included.

My MINI will pass the 5000 barrier soon : ( So I guess I'm out of the club.

But I'm going to go out in style by signing up for AMVIV! (Google it) I'll be there with wife and kids in tow!

4 days into ownership and she's garaged under threat of hailstorms. I think it was a false alarm though, so we may be back out and about this afternoon. I filled up for the first time yesterday.

Barely over 500 miles I have been so busy at work that I have not been able to spend any quality time with my Kirky.

The best part of owning the MINI so far is discovering the pure joy of driving again - not a necessity but something to look forward to every day.

My BF is starting to wonder what the MINI is doing to our food supply since I am driving to the store (far, far away, through a nice twisty road) at least twice every night.

MODS planned so far: custom vinyl, john Cooper Works side skirts, OEM driving lights, new tires and V1 (not really a mod but quickly becoming a necessity)
