I've been lurking on these boards for a bit now (prior to Mini ownership, as well as since), but this is my first post

It came down to a really nice '07 Chili Red S with matching top, aero kit, split web wheels, premium package, sport package, and a price to match at $27,800 or an '05 Astro Black S with only 18k miles, R90 wheels, convenience package, premium, sport, etc at a steal of a price (under $21). I took the '05 Astro Black.

Starting small with my mods...I put Outmotoring smoked sidemarkers on, hardwired a GPS, bought the '07 armrest. I'm getting custom striped on the bonnet this weekend and have orders in for more stuff through several different companies right now.

Very happy with my decision and purchase overall!

Nice!! Now start your modding by getting a different colored scoop and mirror caps, along with stripes!! I'd say checkered mirror caps and stripes would look great on the black. Welcome to NAM!

Also, GREAT choice of the R53 over the R56, seeing as I'm biased because of my '02 R53!!

I've actually checked out your pics quite I bit (like I said, I've been lurking on here for a bit)...very nice!

As far as the checkered stuff, I'm not too huge of a fan for whatever reason. I looked at a laser blue with a checkered roof and caps and I didn't like it much. I'm going silver viper stripes on the hood this weekend

Oh, and I agree about the R53! I liked the refinement and push start initially on the R56, but in the end I prefer everything (except the cupholder design, smaller exhaust tips, and lack of AUX input) on the R53. Plus it's way easier to customize
