Ooooo, you're getting the tuning kit. I'll have to hear how that sounds one day. Hey, maybe you'll actually make it to thw Hooked on Minis event in Nov? Just break it in at T-Hill!!!!

Journey half-way point

Just made it to the halfway point on the Atlantic side of the Panama Canal. Thought some pictures of the journey would be good to add in here. I doubt I will catch the video camera coverage of the locks in the Panama Canal when FIGARO is going through. The other picture shows the path through the Panamal Canal and the lakes. And Google maps is great at showing this region too with the satellite imagery.

Going out into the Pacific

Here is the last update for the day, leaving Panama (Balboa) and heading out into the Pacific Ocean - alright!

Arriving at Port Hueneme

Well, today is the day of arrival at Port Hueneme. Although I can't confirm if the ship is in the dock, I'll assume it is by now. The tracking information from www.sailwx.info is definitely stale, and I assume the AISLive may not get any more updates either?

It will probably take a while for the Owner's Lounge to reflect any change so I'll check that in a couple of days to see what it says.

And here is the URL to the Google Map of Port Hueneme too.

Once Figaro leaves departs Port Hueneme, AIS may or may not show her on the map. Best way to know when she has departed the port is to check her schedule
on the WW site. Once departed that site will update and show that port in 'red". Also the checking the booking number will show a times that all Minis were discharged from Figaro.

Planning 2nd mod

For my 2nd modification, I am purchasing the Ireland Engineering adjustable front camber plates. This should help make the turn-in and tire wear much better on the track!

http://store.nexternal.com/shared/St...t=products.asp

I am assuming about -2.0 degrees is about the right amount of negative camber for the MINI Cooper S. But anybody with experience on the R56 can correct me if I got this wrong.

I hope to find a setting that works as a good compromise between street and track and just leave it there.

Post here shows a picture:

Owner's Lounge update for VDC

The OL finally did update status for the Vehicle Delivery Center. And prior to that I got the WW "discharged" status. So things are getting closer and closer...I guess the iPod adaptor and the JCW rotors are going onto the car now.

Roof graphic

It will be the St. Andrews cross (flag of Scotland). I chose it to pay my respects to St. Andrew for doing a good job of course, but also because my ancestory is partly Scottish (MacGregor).

I hope it looks good in person! Never seen one, so I kind of just went for it. Pictures will follow later in this thread, though. Maybe only a couple of weeks of waiting left?

still waiting

Yesterday was the forecasted delivery date...but No, I am still waiting. The status is: still at the VDC waiting for parts to be installed (which must be the iPod and rotors).

So I am still sitting around with my 4 wheels and my camber plates to look at. My painted arches from Way Motorworks have not arrived yet.

Hope to have better status from the upcoming week. Once the car makes it to the dealer, I'll have to wait for them to do the JCW kit and the roof graphics. So I may be waiting a while longer. -Bill

Eureka - at the dealership!

I am happy to hear that the dealership now has possession of my MINI today and needs a couple of days to do their installations of the JCW Engine Tuning Kit and the roof graphics. So maybe this weekend will be my turn to post pictures! I may need to go sneak a peak at it...

Delivery on Tuesday 11/20

Of course I did go sneak a peak at it, and the Engine Tuning Kit was completed. The roof graphic is supposed to get done by Monday, so that I can take delivery on Tuesday! It hasn't been detailed yet so I am trying to be patient before taking any pictures. I'd want to take the pictures with my wheels on it anyway.

Can't wait to drive it...my Thanksgiving present to have a long weekend right away!

Now I need Way Motorworks to follow through on delivery of those painted arches!

Aarghhh...roof graphic needs to be redone

Well I won't get the car tomorrow since an installation mishap occurred with the roof graphic and will need to be done over again with a replacement. It looks like I'll get it on the 23rd, the day after Thanksgiving.

roof graphic redone & delivery tomorrow!

The explanation on the roof graphic is that the box it came in had rough handling and I guess there was a torn piece that they tried to repair. But it didn't come out perfectly so they decided to reorder and start over. The newest roof graphic came out great!

I got to see the car today and also got to drive it briefly between the time it left the body shop and the full detailing that it is going to get tomorrow morning. I drove sitting on the plastic seat protectors, with cardboard on the floor, and the door protectors still attached! My 1st drive was at night, so I got to experience the mood lighting and how the dash looks all lit up. I had a hard time seeing the speedometer... Actually, my drive was to the nearest gas station, since the dealership needed to fill it up for me anyway. The car was still quite dirty on the exterior, so it was appropriate to be at night.

I did all the paperwork involving becoming the new owner and basically handing over my wallet, so all I need to do is pick it up tomorrow at lunch! So I will have a new MCS before Thanksgiving holiday afterall! Very cool...tomorrow it is show&tell time. Pictures to follow, of course. -Bill

Wow that sucks about the torn piece of the roof graphic, glad they didn't try and just fix it though, good idea to just do it over and get a whole new one.

So they teased you with a drive of your new car, and now you have to wait to get it tomorrow, how much sleep are you going to get tonight?

Gratz on the new car man, looking forward to picts

roof graphic redo - take #3

The roof graphic will need to be done a 3rd time, this time due to the detailing crew mistake. Apparently, there is a "curing" period where you are not supposed to pressure wash the car. Since my car was detailed the morning after, there was some air bubbles introduced. So there will be a take #3 on this roof graphic.

At least I got the car to drive for about a week before it has to go back to the dealer/body shop. But they were up front and honest about this with me.

I am enjoying this while it lasts, it is great to get a smile on your face with two vehicles that are both a blast to drive for different reasons!
