Buying Questions

Hello!
I am busy making my selections (I'm burning up the online configurator) for my brand new Mini. I had a couple of buying questions you may have answers to.

1. How much price wiggle room do you generally experience with a mini dealer when you are ordering a specific Mini config? My only experience with car buying has been with cars on the lot and that involved lots of negotiation. What on average did most of you get off MSRP to make the deal? (I live and am buying in Southern California)

2. Has anyone had any experience buying from Assael Mini in Monrovia? Both Good and Bad? (it is the closest dealer to me in Victorville and I have test driven a mini there to see how the fit is)

3. Anyone have any experience with Extended maintenance? Is it worth it? Pros and cons?

4. Anyone know of a High Desert based mini club? (Or something based in San Bernardino, etc..)

Thanks in advance for all of your help

1.

1a. This isn't a Ford you're buying. Plan on spending MSRP. Some folks around here even had dealers charging over MSRP.

1b. If you want to negotiate, go for the free accessories... mats, valve stem covers, cupholder, etc.

Can't help you much with your area-specific questions. But hang tight, lots of help will come, I'm sure.

And welcome to NAM.

Hi,

I hear Long Beach MINI is selling at MSRP w/o any dealer add-ons... Most in socal are willing to do MSRP. Assael is a fine dealership, as long as BMW goes (that's where I got my bimmer). Try contacting Assael MINI's internet dept (if they have one).

Our MINI was ordered at Brecht MINI in Escondido (north San Diego) for $500 under MSRP... But this may not be worth a drive from Victorville.

As for MINI clubs, I'd say you're probably not going to find any in the High Desert. Plenty of F-150 clubs, I bet! hehe.

I would check out the following for more info on clubs and dealer markups:

Have fun.

Hiya and Welcome to MINI land Can't answer specific dealership questions about nearest to your area as we bought our first two MINIs back East and the third one from Brecht. All I can tell you is what others said, not much wiggle room on the price. MSRP it is and some dealerships charge over.

I find the car to be reasonably priced for what you get. Sounds like I could get a couple of throwins maybe. Has anyone purchased the extended maintenance? What was your experience? How much and for how long does it usually run out there?

Thanks!

Re: #2 - Assael

I don't know anything first hand about Assael, but oddly enough I read this thread last night: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ad.php?t=85048. And I found that link from another thread talking about problems someone was having with Assael. So... You may want to do a bit of research on this dealership before purchasing from them!
