yep another newb

My official introduction. Just purchased an 07 lightning blue MCS for my wife (and yes i will enjoy it also). I do have a few q's. First i noticed on a few minis at the dealer they had a clear 3m protective cover over the nose of the car. I asked and the salesman told me it would cost about $995. Has anyone bought this product from somewhere other than the dealer and self installed it? If so where can i get it? Also has anyone installed ceramic brake pads to cut down on the brake dust. It seems every mini i see has plenty of brake dust. Thanks and see ya around.

I hope you have high speed because if you search for "ceramic brake pads", it's gonna take 15 minutes to load. Quick IMO, EBC's are good for a street car that sees some spirited driving. If you run it hard, get Hawk's. I have the EBC's and have no complaints but kinda wish I bought Hawks.

Welcome to NAM! $1000 for a clear bra does sound a little high, I would check around some of the local body shops and see if they can recommend someone a little cheaper. It seems to me that the dealers are always a little higher in price than local shops are, for anything. As far as the brake dust goes, I see alot of MINI's with it all over the wheels....my solution, I got black wheels, can't see it now! Have fun motoring in your new MINI!

Well when she let's me drive i might get a little spirited with the driving but my wife commutes with the car and the main concern is brake dust. So how is the brake dust with your ebc's? thanks

Hi and Welcome.. I can't help you with the brake pads. The clear bra can be bought at many after market shops. Unless you are pretty experienced at installing this kind of product, I wouldn't suggest doing it yourself. It's not as easy as it might look...Just my 2 cents..
