A New MINI

Hello all!

I'm a former 2002 MINI owner and have since owned a variety of cars after that one was blown to pieces.
Anyhow, I'm considering buying my wife a NEW MINI. She is deciding between a New Escalade, Range Rover, Lotus and MINI.
Of course... I nixed the Lotus - no room, we had one before... sold it for profit... yada yada yada.
I'm good with any of her 3 other choices, she narrowed it down last night to a New MCS turbo.

YAY!

I'm considering automatic just for her.

How is the new Auto turbo S compared to any of the MINI Models auto vs manual.
I've heard good things about the auto turbo so far.

We might not mod it so much more than lowering it, wheels, etc.
It's not a race car.

Also, maybe the clubman is a consideration in this.

Well anyway, I'm back. It's been a long time.

I look foward to opinions.

Oh yea, we saw an ALL SILVER 2007 MCS and it was very slick looking.
There's a lot to consider.

Welcome to NAM, and back to the world of MINIs! I can't comment on the R56 since I don't have one.

Yes! welcome to NAM, and like batgirlwildcat, I don't have an R56 either, but I know many that are extremely happy with it. Unfortunately, I've also heard of some issues, but that will be with any car. That's what warranties are for! Get a MINI and you'll be happy!

Welcome back to almost MINI ownership. It looks like you and your wife have decided. The 07 MCS is a fine car, drives well and lots of power.

I have the MCSa, thus I am biased. I really like the manual stick mode and find I do not miss a 6 speed manual. I have my Alfa Romeo for rowing through the gears.

I did get a chance to drive an 06 Cabrio with automatic, it was nice but the new 07 auto feels crisper.

Hope you order and get to having fun while you drive. I would say the driving difference between your selections are enormous. Good choice for both of you.

thanks everyone.

Is there a 2007/8 owner's gallery here?

Yes, last time I was here, officially, was when MCO was buggered into NAM.

also, I have my car, manual, for when I need to shift into gear.
Her car, likely will be auto. Just for simplicity and ease. The MINI will hold more than any of my cars and it will be a utility vehicle for her as much as it will be a fun one. We will have to store her current car outside maybe. MAYBE.

We saw this and dig it a lot.
If there was a Lotus green, we'd have one in the garage today.
The BRG is a good looking option.

We built one online with the JCW packages and are liking it so far.
We're still undecided.

Blues are looking a bit harsh in those R56 showoff threads though.
Red = too much but combined with the interior = sweet.

White is nice, we currently have a white convertible in the garage so it will compliment.

OMG! That is so awesome! It reminds me of the M7 MINI at the Dragon in 2006! but of course it's not, but it really looks good! I'll give you my vote for the "Pepper White with all trim painted body color plus tint for sure" look! very nice

Welcome back to the club!
I can speak for the R56 MCS Auto, have had mine for over a month now and it is very smooth and quick.

I have not had any problems with the Auto box and would recommend if you do a lot of city driving, I've had my share of manual tranny's in the past so I decided to give my leg a rest; have not regret it.

it is amazing how the car transforms itself once you press the sport button, the trasmition keeps it in its sweet spot.

it all boils down to what you want and are happy with....

Good luck with the decision...
