Approaching the On-Ramp

Got my sig, got my avatar, now all I need is my MINI! It was scheduled to arrive Port Hueneme on July 2 but as time has passed, the date has inched up to June 30. My wife and I will be at MITM2 as total newbies -- already loving the community I sense just reading the posts.

We test drove an 07 MCS on May 17 and ordered on the 19th. I had my mind pretty much made up when driving out of the dealer lot -- hadn't even reached the street yet. Talk about responsiveness -- gads.

So just to toss one out -- what's the first few things a new MINI owner should do when getting the feel of this little gem? Any MINI-etiquette advice, etc?

Come on big ship! (Madame Butterfly)

Well first...welcome!! Second...congrats!!! Enjoy being around other MINI-acs...some wave, some don't...but you will run into other owners (a highly diverse lot) and there's always fun to be had. Do study up on breaking-in your MINI properly, especially since an event is in your immediate future. You might check around here for info on some good car wash supplies...you'll need those pretty early on.

Welcome! Other than the wave, not a lot of etiquette that is not covered in the promo pieces from Mini. I would suggest looking into local clubs - lots of fun to be had there! Enjoy!

Hi Vinny! Welcome to NAM, and welcome to the wonderful world of MINI. I'll see you at MITM, but in the meantime, happy motoring~!

Accept silly grin syndrome as a natural by-product of driving a MINI.

Golly. So many replies already. About the wave -- Being the gadget junkie that I am, I'd like to see a "Hi There!" sort of special horn sound. Used when passing a sibling. So many programmable options, why not add another?!
