Will visiting my father-in-law with my family for the holidays. Put on my high performance summer tires and plan to head for coffee at the look out on the Dragon on Friday 12/30. Only hitch, brought the whole family to dads, so no Mini, will be running it with my Mazda 5 microvan, 5 speed stick with intake. Any takers, my wife thinks I'm nuts.

 

She's probably right, but it does sound like fun. Too bad I'm a thousand miles too far away to join up

...Being there in a Mini is just a plus ...Raise your coffee cup and toast the dragon for those of us who can not be there....

The Mazda 5 is one of the more sporty microvans out there. Based off the Mazda 3, it is a hoot to drive the kiddies around in. Stock suspension has been criticise for having too much oversteer, I love it. Well, I love it as much as you can love a microvan. Having more power than my Justa, but also heavier, we'll see how it does. As far as my wife, we have been married 21 years, she understands.

 

So, just got back from my dragon runs and watching the sunrise or at least watched the sky get brighter. First off, a Mazda 5 is not the best car for it. Could not get heat in the summer tires(30 degrees), brakes not good, too much body roll.........but I just ran the Dragon, Oh Yeh!

Kinda spooky like a ghost town down here. Deals Gap was closed for the season, Fontana only had a couple of suv's and no one was on the Dragon. How many days till MOTD?

Just wondering if you are planning on attending MOTD 10? Totally the one of best event.

 

JBR rear swaybar flattens out the 5 quite nicely :-)

Look forward to seeing a bunch of MINIs there someday. We ran The Dragon in the midst of a motorcycle rally a couple years ago, it was Honda S2000 day that time.

 

Thanks for the info. My Pittstop Mini Club buddies have been suggesting a lot of mods, but nothing specific. Will look into it, but it is only a van, do not want to cut into my Mini's mod cash.

 

Well, it now been almost 3 months since I made my last dragon run. Getting a little itchy. I have been doing many little things getting my 05 MC ready for another MOTD. I leave for Road Atlanta on 4/26 to help my buddy pit his Triumph Spitfire for "The Mitty". Will travel straight to the Dragon from there. 32 days baby!
