Need some help on getting the Countryman ALL4 a lot faster. What are some mods that will get me there without breaking the bank.

Ok, so I had an R52 with a pulley mod, K&N air, milltek exhaust, 25mm rear sway bar, KW coilover and ECU mod. I loved the setup and the car moved.Unfortunately, I had to sell it and now finally got myself back into a Countryman ALL4. Times have changed and my cash flow priorities are little different and will not be able to spend all that money for all of those goods.

I would look into getting a MANIC tune. JB+ is great but probably not what your looking for. Unless your budget is too tight. JB+ is a very good bargain, just limited. Do some searching and you can see what will fit you better.

Well, it sounds like you don't need much advice about mods. Sounds like you had a pretty well rounded car before.
I have a JB+ on the way because it's plug and play (and relearn) with no downtime associated with modifying the tune. I also don't want to do anything that's semi-permanent. It's said to gain 20whp and 30ft-lbs. Some people have reported 17whp gain, which is $12/hp at the average going rate for a used one.
You already know that a real tune will gain you much more power, and the downtime associated with shipping to and from.
Some people have raved about the Megan Racing coilovers. Said to be better damping than stock. I'm not planning to do suspension, so that's just what I've heard. Another option in the opposite direction is the Cooper Crap lift kit. It just spaces the strut towers 2" from the body. Changing sway bar end links is recommended with that.

So, here is what I have found. I know I stated that I didn't want to spend too much money but I knew I couldn't do it. I have added a Wanger Comp intercooler, full Milltek High cat flow exhaust, vip sway bar, camber arms, wmw turbo muffler delete, Minic stage 2 tune and finally a D1 Spec 7 drive.
The best bang for my buck was the D1 Spec 7 drive. This thing is unbelievable. I can't believe how responsive the car can be with this unit. The best thing is that you can set it to normal and see what you get with the tune and then turn on the sport mode and see how the car takes off.

The bestbang for your bucks are a good panel filter, Cat back exhaust such as Megan racing and a Manic tune. you can do all three for under $1000. gain approx. 40-50 HP.

Everyone has a different driving style and expectation. The D1 doesn't add power it remaps or changes the percentage of throttle for a given amount of travel on the pedal. With that it will take less pedal to get more response, but you never get more response than putting the pedal to the floor. I would suggest that anyone with a Cold\Hot air intake remove it and go back to the stock air box and a good panel filter. There are many threads and many comments by tuners on this subject.
