Stock Problems/IssuesDiscussions related to warranty related issues and repairs, or other problems with the OEM parts and software for MINI Cooper (R50), Cabrio (R52), and Cooper S (R53) MINIs.
03, April build MC, 30k miles both doors failed, frozen handles at -30c. Got 04 door handles and new cables. Has never happened since.

-30 is at least an excuse, our MINI has never had to endure a temperature less than 2C, and the lock still failed. Maybe those 40C plus days didn't help.
Anybody - besides me - had the same door fail more than once?
Anybody fix it themselves? if this is going to be a regular occurence then it might be useful for me to do it myself (especially after the warranty expires)!
02 MC, 80K passenger door. Remote locks but will not unlock. I looked at the module and it looks like it has two solenoids. I'm assuming the unlocking solenoid has failed.
hmmm. Similar problem just started. The driver side door does not unlock when the handle is pulled on my '03 MCS. The other lock/unlock features are all still working (knocking on wood) -- I guess I will be removing a door panel this weekend. But on the bright side, the brake wear indicator light just came on this week also.
Ours is a problem with the power lock, not the cable. After the rain, it worked until yesterday, now it stopped again.
It tries, but something seems to be binding it. Also, I notice that if you try to cycle locking and unlocking the door, the BCC refuses to run the power lock on the driver's door as well.
If I believed in conspiracy theories, or evil coders, I would almost think it is a 'feature' of the BCC to anoy you into visiting the dealer.
