Turbo Inlet

Anyone know if I purchase just this rubber spool piece on the turbo inlet? As you can see this one is damaged.

No, doesn't look like that part is sold individually from the turbo itself:

What did drop on it to crack it ?

Thanks for the info. The damaged part is a black plastic spool that stayed on the inlet when I removed the inlet pipe, I think it just deteriorated from time, heat and oil.

If intake boot it cracked on the small gasket and the main boot has a crack ( seen it on mine before ), you will have to get the whole tube. Which when you replace will be fine and seal. Clean up the oil residue on the flange and they slide it on all the way.

13717555784 ribbed version N14 Cooper S .

And a new clamp for that turbo inlet connection , the old ones can bend from over clamping on / off all the time and the tube works it way off.

Thanks

Thanks! Just removed the inlet tube, the turbo end is disintegrating. I have it taped up for now. Just installed a new vacuum pump that I purchased from you. Guess I will put inlet tube on the list.

The old pump:

Welcome. Just keep an eye on that tube so it does not slide off or work its way off.

Thanks for the orders.

Not sure there is anything wrong with the vacuum pump but I did find that the small vacuum line was separated from the hard tubing so it was a worthwhile project.

Our heat/press turbo inlet flange will be cheaper cost than buying a whole intake pipe, as well as keep the intake pipe from slipping off the turbo as many cars have issues with.

Any tricks to getting this installed. I've had mine for a few weeks now. Cold engine, heated the piece in the oven like instructions said, but still couldn't get it on all the way. It went on about an inch and stopped.

We've had the best luck by using a MAP gas torch, heating the flange to around 180-200* grabbed it gently with a pair of channel locks and slipped it onto the compressor inlet. It should slip right on, hold it there for a few seconds and it should cool rather quickly with the turbo acting as a heatsink.

Hay Nick can this flange be used on an 07 MCS so I can get the plastic hard pipe (JCW N14) to fit onto my little turbo?

I have the flange for my '07, and I have the JCW hard pipe. So "Yes!" is the answer. In fact you can use the JCW hard pipe without the flange. All you have to do is transer the inner seal from the stock rubber tube to the JCW hard pipe. But for extra security, I'd get the flange.

I got the DT flange and had the same problem. Heated it with a torch too. The turbo is too much of a heat sink- as soon as it touched the flange, the flange gripped the turbo and got stuck. Had to cut mine off with a dremel since it was only part-way on and I couldn't torch it again in the engine bay.

I assume the correct way to install the flange is when your turbo is cold?

How long had it been since you drove your MINI when trying to install this?

It had been a few days since I drove the car. The turbo was completely cold. You can see the mark of how far I got the flange to slide on in the pic.
