Miss My MTH
I've been running MTH since September '04 and the special race map since July '05. Well...I had to take my baby in for service and the dealer upgraded the ECU for a recall - unbeknownst to me.
End result is that my MTH is gone. The car feels soooooo sluggish now. Takes alot longer to spool up to the real power range and when she gets there she feels nowhere near as strong as when I had the MTH.
I can't wait for Volker to get my file back!
For anyone on the fence - GO FOR IT! You cannot beat this mod in terms of cost per grin factor.

How did you find out they upgraded the ECU? Did they tell you after? Or was it on your invoice.
Hope you get the new tuner file back soon. I'd definitely miss mine!!!

I did not remove it. I was just getting some sunroof and rear latchwork done.
I was told after I went to pick it up that they had changed the ECU for a recall.
I'm eagerly waiting for my file back.

No, better not! If you have a new BMW SW, the MTH file should be adjusted accordingly. Sorry to all that are waiting for files. We are terribly busy at the moment.

I know this is an old thread, but if I bought the tuner package, MTH would upgrade the file at no charge for 12 months if the dealer upgraded the ECU. But what would happen if this happened 13+ months after the purchase, if you did not by the 60euro yearly maintenance? Just wondering. TIA Michael

Just have the file emailed to you when you order it, and keep in on disk.
The upgrade file is if you mod and have to have it redone after the 1st tuner file is done. At least thats how i see it.

There are two problems
1) MTH updates cartune yearly, the software won't even run after January 1 of each year (I believe that is how it works, although cartune updates are free)
2) The dealer remaps are not compatable with old mth file (per volker), so you need to download the newly patched file and send it to MTH so they can recustomize it for your mini.

I think I agree with xianqi. If the dealer adds /remaps the ECU after 12+ months, I'm stuck buying another upgrade from MTH even if I don't do anymore mods. Perhaps we could hear from MTH themselves? It seems that MTH is a great mod/product but not if you have to pay 60 euros each year, just to ensure the dealer doesn't screw you. Michael

I think Volker responded to this question a while back. check posts 9 & 10 in this thread.
